Trump says US terminating all trade talks with Canada over digital services tax
Trump admin will inform Canada within the 'next seven day period' of what tariff it will pay to do business with the US

By Eric Revell FOXBusiness

President Donald Trump said on Friday that the U.S. is terminating all trade discussions with Canada.

Trump cited Canada’s digital services tax on American tech companies as the reason for ending trade talks.

"They are obviously copying the European Union, which has done the same thing, and is currently under discussion with us, also. Based on this egregious Tax, we are hereby terminating ALL discussions on Trade with Canada, effective immediately," Trump wrote.

Trump said the administration will inform Canada within the "next seven day period" of what tariff it will pay to do business with the U.S.

The president added in his post that Canada is "a very difficult Country to TRADE with" and claimed that Canada has levied tariffs of up to 400% on U.S. dairy products.

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump

We have just been informed that Canada, a very difficult Country to TRADE with, including the fact that they have charged our Farmers as much as 400% Tariffs, for years, on Dairy Products, has just announced that they are putting a Digital Services Tax on our American Technology Companies, which is a direct and blatant attack on our Country. They are obviously copying the European Union, which has done the same thing, and is currently under discussion with us, also. Based on this egregious Tax, we are hereby terminating ALL discussions on Trade with Canada, effective immediately. We will let Canada know the Tariff that they will be paying to do business with the United States of America within the next seven day period. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Sure they will, but there is a six month backlog in deliveries.

And the shipping will kill you - No lie, I bought a ball cap - A regular ball cap, now - From a youtuber up in CA... 30 looney bucks, which is about maybe 26 Yankee bucks... Which is pretty steep. But the shipping turned out to be 40 looney bucks more... To get from BC to here.

NOPE. Cancel that.

  • RUSSIA MUST BE DESTROYED!!!
The answer here is reciprocity across the board. Whatever the highest tariff placed on an American product by a foreign country that should be the level of tariff we place on all of their products.

In the case of Canada that would be four hundred percent.
RUSSIA MUST BE DESTROYED!!!

Trump terminates tariff talks with Canada and tells ally it will know its fate within seven days

Daily Mail
By EMILY GOODIN
27 June 2025

President Donald Trump said he's suspending trade talks with Canada over its plans to continue with its tax on technology firms and added he will let it know its fate on the matter in 'seven days.

Trump used fighting words in a Truth Social post attacking America's neighbor to the north, calling the technology tax 'a direct and blatant attack on our country.'

The Canadian tax is scheduled to go into affect on Monday.

'Based on this egregious Tax, we are hereby terminating ALL discussions on Trade with Canada, effective immediately. We will let Canada know the Tariff that they will be paying to do business with the United States of America within the next seven day period,' Trump said in his post.

One thing I do not see in here is that Canada is making this tax retroactive to June 2024.

That's certainly not how to treat a chief trading partner.

Yeah you gotta watch the shipping. I was going to order some kevlar laces for new boots (nothing ticks me off more than cheap laces that snap at the worst possible moment), but the shipping cost was more than the cost of the laces (2 pair). Never mind. Found them on Amazon and the shipping is free.

I ain't done laces in forever. I got so sick of the crap available. And I have been on a whole lot of rocky ground - It's all shale around here, and you really have to mind that you don't drag your eyelets across a sharp edge - You can clip a crappy store-bought lace without even trying.

My fix (of course) was paracord  I have paracord around in monster rolls. But then you have to find boots with big eyelets and hooks so the paracord will pass. Not a problem back in the day of hikers... But a serious issue now. I have had my shoemaker rehang all the hardware on my boots more than once, just so they'd take a decent lace...

They sure don't make em for working anymore. **nononono*

Bleah... Velcro sucks in dirty environments. And in wet environments. Always draggin a brass toothbrush through the hair side to try and get just one more time... And then, drag em across something the wrong way and they come right loose.

Flat no. If you know how to make a knot, and you know how to burn the ends, laces will stay right where you put them.

But points for an obscure  misappropriation of a 'Graduate' quote.

Velcro doesn't do well in dirt or any environment with a lot of fibrous material around. (cottonwoods in bloom), but my chief objection is that when it works right, it is noisy. Buttons or even well lubed snaps are quieter. It's okay for fine adjustments to things that will remain adjusted for a long time, but being opened and closed a lot wears it out and gets it clogged.

Canada Rescinds Digital Services Tax After Trump Suspends Trade Talks

Paul Bois 30 Jun 2025
Canada has rescinded its digital services tax in response to President Donald Trump suspending trade talks with the aim of continuing negotiations.

As Breitbart News reported over the weekend, Trump terminated trade talks with Canada due to its tax on American tech goods.

“We have just been informed that Canada, a very difficult Country to TRADE with, including the fact that they have charged our Farmers as much as 400% Tariffs, for years, on Dairy Products, has just announced that they are putting a Digital Services Tax on our American Technology Companies, which is a direct and blatant attack on our Country,” the president said on Truth Social.

“They are obviously copying the European Union, which has done the same thing, and is currently under discussion with us, also,” he added.

Note that this tax never had any real support in Canada, this was just another kooky left-wing policy move by the Trudeau Liberals

... just like their banning gas cars, transgender "rights", surrendering to the Native agenda, etc.

Fortunately, Carney seems somewhat normal for now ... at least he did more  than being a high-school drama teacher, like Trudeau ...
