Ron DeSantis Says Floridians Have Right to Hit Protesters With Cars

DeSantis was speaking on The Rubin Report on Wednesday, when he said: "We also have a policy that if you're driving on one of those streets and a mob comes and surrounds your vehicle, and threatens you, you have a right to flee for your safety.

"And so if you drive off and you hit one of these people, that's their fault for impinging on you. You don't have to just sit there and be a sitting duck and let the mob grab you out of your car and drag you through the streets."

I didn't need DeSantis to say this, I think most here would rather run over hoodlums that be beat to death in such a mob. If they act like they want to kill me/mine, might as well take a few of them with me. You can charge me with murder if I turn around and take another swipe at them (unless my wife was left in another car behind me, in that case all bets are off).

Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey basically gave the FAFO speech of the year, warning agitators that if they went on the attack, he and his deputies would be responding accordingly:

“You don’t want to let that happen,” Ivey said of [protests that turn violent], spotlighting riots around the country involving buildings being burned down and police cars being “bricked” as examples.

“If you try to mob rule a car in Brevard County gathering around it, refusing to let the driver leave in our county, you’re most likely going to get run over and dragged across the street,” Ivey continued.

“If you spit on us, you’re going to the hospital and in jail. If you hit one of us, you’re going to the hospital and jail, and most likely get bitten by one of our big, beautiful dogs that we have here. If you throw a brick, a fire bomb, or a pointed gun at one of our deputies, we will be notifying your family where to collect your remains at. Because we will kill you, graveyard dead. We’re not going to play.”

Florida has ensured the right to self defense, but the garbage can still exploit the civil courts, and you are at the mercy of a local jury pool.  Will the appellate court reverse a bad decision?  Most likely, but you are buried in legal fees.  The best course of action is to limit time spent in deep blue jurisdictions.  American cities are, by and large, a pile of crap.

The good sheriff in Brevard county is correct; you agitate us here in FL us you just might wind up in a hospital or jail or even get run over.

It's going to be interesting, we have one household two blocks over that fly the Mexican flag -- those neighbors surrounding me have quite a different viewpoint.
