The Trump administration is deploying 500 Marines to Los Angeles amid ongoing protests in the area that have turned violent in recent days.

The Marines from Twentynine Palms, Calif., will be tasked to protect federal property and federal personnel, a senior U.S. official familiar with the planning told Fox News' Jennifer Griffin.

Use of force rules are unclear, but the Marines will not be in a law enforcement role, the official said.

It appears Trump has learned from the Antifa riots 5 years ago. You can't placate them. They must be held to account for their actions. They will be tracked down, as nearly all of them are carrying their cell phones.

They do not need to be tracked down. 

They are open and immediately in front of ICE, so it makes it real easy to round them up.  Make the Coliseum a massive holding facility to handle thousands.

@Fishrrman  I'm not sure it will work again today.  The leftists in Congress along with liberal judges do not have our President's back. 

I see a possible civil war on the horizon.  We have liberal mayors and a governor telling ILLEGALS that they have rights and sticking up for the rioters blaming our President. Heck, Newsom plans on suing Trump.

As protests continued in Los Angeles, Mayor Karen Bass on Monday reminded illegal immigrants of their rights when approached by immigration authorities.

Bass posted a link on X to the city's public library ‘Know Your Rights" page. The post reminds users that if officers ask questions, “you have the right to say: I choose to remain silent.”

It also reminds immigrants to always carry valid immigration documents, to never lie about their immigration status and that law enforcement cannot enter their home without permission or a warrant.

Bass has blamed the Trump administration for the violence in and around Los Angeles during protests against its immigration policies.

“Trump didn’t inherit a crisis — he created one. To those stoking the fire of lawlessness and chaos alongside him — LA will hold you accountable,” she wrote Monday on X.

Newsom's office says Marines 'not being deployed,' just moving 'from one base to another'

California Governor Gavin Newsom's office reacted to news that U.S. Marines had been activated in the Los Angeles area to protect federal property amid anti-ICE riots.

"From our understanding, this is moving Marines from one base to another base," Newsom's press office shared in a tweet on Monday. "At this time, the information we have is that Marines are not being deployed (there is a difference between that and being mobilized).

"U.S. Northern Command Public Affairs confirmed that approximately 700 Marines with the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division would "integrate with the Title 10 forces under Task Force 51 who are protecting federal personnel and federal property in the greater Los Angeles area."

"The activation of the Marines is intended to provide Task Force 51 with adequate numbers of forces to provide continuous coverage of the area in support of the lead federal agency," U.S. Northern Command Public Affairs shared in a statement.

Newsom's office slammed the increased military presence in the city.

“The level of escalation is completely unwarranted, uncalled for, and unprecedented — mobilizing the best in class branch of the U.S. military against its own citizens,” his office said.

A stunning report has revealed details on the financial backers fueling anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles.

One of the biggest groups accused of leading the riots is a taxpayer-funded activist organization, and another is linked to the Chinese Communist Party, according to conservative sleuths.

The latter, the Coalition of Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), received tens of millions of dollars in government grants while Joe Biden was president. CHIRLA staged a rally last week, coming out strong against the Immigration and Customs Enforcement operations arresting illegal migrants all over the city, which included individuals convicted of horrific, violent crimes.

Protests against ICE have turned into full-blown riots featuring over a thousand rioters on the streets. Multiple accounts have emerged of “protesters” assaulting immigration officers, defacing public buildings, and slashing people’s tires, according to information released by the Department of Homeland Security.

This led to President Donald Trump ordering 2,000 National Guard soldiers to be deployed to L.A. to help police get a handle on all of the chaos erupting on the streets.

Financial records were obtained by DataRepublican, revealing that CHIRLA received a whopping $34 million in grants from the government in 2024. This is a $12 million increase from what the group received in 2023.

In vile posts calling for violence against law enforcement, the hotels where federal agents are staying in Los Angeles have been released online, with one agitator saying 'burn them.'

The exact address of where Border Patrol agents stayed in Ranch Cucamonga, California just outside LA was posted on Instagram by a self-proclaimed 'leftists'.

'ICE at Hilton, car filled goggles, tuff ties, and riot shields,' the video said, even though the cars were clearly marked Border Patrol, which is a sister agency of Immigration and Customs Enforcement or ICE.

Border Patrol has been called in to help ICE as it carried out immigration arrests in Los Angeles last week.

Additionally, Border Patrol has always been able to operate within 100 miles of the US-Mexico border on its own.

'Burn them,' posted Instagram users @bobbygee57_ in response to the reel showing the agent's location.

'Got a match,' asked @joseflocas.

Another user urged others to damage the tax-payer funded vehicles.
