Trump’s reinstates, expands travel ban: Which countries are affected?
by Sarah Fortinsky - 06/05/25 7:46 AM ET

President Trump signed a proclamation on Wednesday that bars individuals from 12 countries from entering the United States and that places additional travel restrictions on people from another seven countries.

The president cited national security concerns, in announcing the ban, which officially takes effect at 12:01 a.m. on Monday.

The proclamation — which echoes a travel ban from Trump’s first term — makes exceptions for nationals from all 19 of those countries who are lawful permanent residents of the United States, existing visa holders and individuals whose entry serves U.S. national interests.

In a video posted online, Trump said that additional countries could be added to the list if new international threats arise at a later point.

“The list is subject to revision based on whether material improvements are made,” the president said. “And likewise new countries can be added as threats emerge around the world, but we will not allow people to enter our country who wish to do us harm and nothing will stop us from keeping America safe.”

Here are the countries affected by the new proclamation:

12 countries banned:

    Afghanistan
    Burma
    Chad
    Republic of the Congo
    Equatorial Guinea
    Eritrea
    Haiti
    Iran
    Libya
    Somalia
    Sudan
    Yemen

7 countries restricted:

    Burundi
    Cuba
    Laos
    Sierra Leone
    Togo
    Turkmenistan
    Venezuela

Anyone loyal to the governments of the listed countries should be excluded, but a travel ban with only the exceptions listed also prevents people fleeing those governments' tyranny and seeking asylum from coming here -- unless we regard freeing people from tyranny by letting them come to the United States as being in the United States' interest.  Under every previous administration from the days of the Founders down to the present, that might have been the attitude, but Trump appears to be hostile not only to illegal immigration (which is why a lot of people voted for him and a lot who didn't support him in that narrow issue) but to immigration qua immigration.

Part of what made America great was offering shelter for those fleeing tyranny (who as a result turned into loyal Americans), but that aspect of American greatness seems lost on those who loudly proclaim that they want to "make America great again".
And when they behead your own people in the wars which are to come, then you will know what this was all about.

What ever will a Fed Judge do?  This ban must not stand.
You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.
