"Hegseth added that any attempt by China to conquer Taiwan 'would result in devastating consequences for the Indo-Pacific and the world ..."
--
The primary country with devastating consequences from any invasion would be China. Every Chinese troop that is killed or left unable to work, means one family will become destitute and homeless, since there is only a meager social support system that can barely help anyone even in peace time. The result would be mass protests that could cause the downfall of the CCP - the CCP will never do anything that would threaten its existence.
China's PLA is good at parades, using rocket fuel to heat tea, while the CCP is good at spending billions convincing the world its the best country in the world, with the best governance, and the strongest military anywhere.
So no there will be no war or invasion by China any time soon, and certainly not under 47's watch.
