DHS List Names Cambridge, Boston Among 200 Sanctuary Cities It Says Are Obstructing Immigration Enforcement

Cambridge and Boston are among the hundreds of sanctuary cities nationwide that the Department of Homeland Security accused of defying federal law on a list designed to expose localities that the Trump administration says are obstructing its immigration crackdown.

The DHS released a Friday statement identifying more than 200 sanctuary cities and counties in 36 states that it said were defying federal immigration law.

“Sanctuary cities protect dangerous criminal illegal aliens from facing consequences and put law enforcement in grave danger,” the statement reads.

Each locality will be formally notified of its non-compliance and potential violations of federal law. Cambridge has not yet received notice from the DHS, according to a Friday afternoon statement from City Manager Yi-An Huang ’05.

good, these sanctuary cities have been getting away with this for far too long. There is no reason on earth to tolerate this, they don't have gun sanctuary places in Maryland,

Trump admin identifies 'sanctuary jurisdictions' in 35 states, DC

Illinois has the greatest number of counties listed of any state of 96, just a few shy of its 102 counties. All but one of Massachusetts’ 14 counties are listed. Washington is not far behind with 36 out of its 39 counties listed.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has published a list of “sanctuary jurisdictions” in 35 states and the District of Columbia.
 
Illinois has the greatest number of counties listed of any state of 96, just a few shy of its 102 counties. All but one of Massachusetts’ 14 counties are listed. Washington is not far behind with 36 out of its 39 counties listed.

Fifteen states aren’t on the list, nearly all are run by Republicans: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Iowa, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming.

This is the first time DHS has published a sanctuary jurisdiction list. The list was published in accordance with an executive order President Donald Trump issued last month, “Protecting American Communities from Criminal Aliens,” The Center Square reported.

Some county officials said they have asked the Trump administration to remove them from the list to no avail

Local officials across the nation were confused to find their counties and cities listed on the Trump administration's recently shared list of "sanctuary jurisdictions."

Officials from counties and cities across the country were shocked to discover they had been included on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS') list of "sanctuary jurisdictions," a classing that could threaten their federal funding.

Several local officials across the country, including those in Huntington Beach, Calif.; Montour County, Pa.; and Duffield, Va., expressed frustration over being included on the DHS' dynamic list of more than 500 "sanctuary jurisdictions." Some districts, including Kit Carson County, Colo., which has a population of less than 7,000 people, have even passed resolutions declaring they are not a sanctuary city.


"It was a complete and total surprise to everyone in the county when we got put on that list," Julie Kraye, a county commissioner in Hooker County, Neb., which has a population of 700 people, most of whom voted for Trump in 2024, told The New York Times. "We just don't have the infrastructure for the housing or what these people would need," she added.

Just because cities and counties voted for Trump doesn't mean a damn thing if the political leaders are democrats!  Democrat politicians could give a flying fornication about what voters think, especially if they favor Trump. :im waiting:
