Dan Bongino
@FBIDDBongino
As the Deputy Director of the FBI, I am charged, standing with Director Patel, with managing the most powerful law enforcement agency in the world. The Director and I are also responsible for looking at grave mistakes made by people within the FBI in the past, and ensuring they never happen again.

And while the FBI does not have primary investigative responsibility for investigating threats against the POTUS, and we do not make prosecutorial decisions, we do have the ability and authority to support other federal agencies for violations of federal law. And we certainly have a responsibility to comment on matters involving former FBI officials, and allegations of law-breaking.

That said, former FBI Director James Comey brought shame to the FBI badge, yet again, this past week. The Director and I spend an inordinate amount of time cleaning up messes left behind by former Director Comey. And his latest actions are no exception.

As I’ve stated in the past, I cannot post openly about all the things the Director and I are doing to reform the enterprise, but I assure you, they are happening. Sadly, many of those agenda items are the result of former Director Comey’s poor decision making and atrocious leadership. And to those who doubt me, I assure you, when you see what the Director and I see from the inside, it’s even worse. I’m addressing this now, rather than on our interview with Maria Bartiromo tomorrow, because we recorded that interview earlier in the week prior to the incident with Comey.

God bless America, and all those who defend Her.

Don Jr delivers EPIC response to Comey’s threatening ’86 47′ post
May 17, 2025 | Sierra Marlee

On Thursday, former FBI Director James Comey posted an ill-advised photo of a “cool shell formation” that earned him some well-deserved backlash.

Among that backlash was a reported visit from the U.S. Secret Service, with the New York Post claiming that Comey was seen leaving the Secret Service’s Washington, D.C., field office on Friday. While the “86 47” photo has since been deleted, that isn’t stopping people from posting “cool shell formations” of their own.

Including President Donald Trump’s son, Don Jr.:

Brennan: Comey Would Never Advocate Violence, ’86’ Doesn’t Mean Assassinate

Former CIA Director John Brennan said Friday on MSNBC’s “Deadline” that former FBI Director James Comey was not advocating violence with his social media post about President Donald Trump that featured a photo of seashells arranged to read, “86 47.”

Comey: Don’t Regret ‘Innocent’ 86 47 Post — It Was ‘Clever,’ Artistic Political View Point

Former FBI Director James Comey said Monday on MSNBC’s “Deadline” that he did not regret his “86 47” social media post because it was “clever” and an artistic political point of view that he admired.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pv5R3cfQXr8&ab_channel=JayPirch

Host Nicolle Wallace said, “Take me back to the walk on the beach.”

Comey said, “We were walking on the beach. We went to the beach to prepare for this week, which was the launch of my book and to think about the book and to prepare to answer questions about it. And we were walking back towards the road and we saw in the sand someone had arranged shells with numbers. Patrice, my wife said, why would someone put an address in the sand? And I said, I don’t know. We stood over it and I said, I think it’s some kind of political message. She said, you know, 86 when I was a server, she did a lot of work in restaurants, meant to remove an item from the menu when you ran out of ingredients. I said, well, to me, as a kid, it always meant to leave a place, to ditch a place. I said, that’s really clever. So then she said, you should take a picture of that. I did, and I posted it on my Instagram account and thought nothing more of it until I heard through her that people were saying it was some sort of a call for assassination, which is crazy, but I took it down. Even if I think it’s crazy. i don’t want to be associated with violence of any kind.”

Wallace asked, “Did you have any regret about posting the picture?”

Comey said, “Well, I regret the distraction and the controversy around it but again, it’s hard to have regret about something that even in hindsight, looks to me to be totally innocent for the reasons you said. Yeah, I didn’t have a gut check in the Trump era.”

He added, “I thought, what a clever way to express a political view. The shells were the same color for each of the letters, with different colors for the letters. It took a lot of work, somebody with artistic flair did that. I have a hard time believing it was anybody with a dark intention. It certainly was no dark intention on my part or on my spouse’s part.”

86 is a term in restaurant jargon for "cancel" to the best of my recollection.

I think this is leftist-like knee-jerk overreaction.

It's called "hyperbole", at worst.  And in fact, "86" has long been used simply for "terminate" in general - it does NOT have to mean "kill".  Just get rid of, literally.  It's in a million TV shows over decades and is common usage.  In this case, all it has to mean is "get him out of office", not "kill him".  Funny, "kill" also is common hyperbole - people don't mean it, they just say it for effect.

Before Comey's seashell stunt, however, leftists had made it quite clear that when they said 8647, they meant assassination.

I saw Comey on tv today. He sounded as sincere as I do when I say..."it's not you, it's me" when I'm trying to dump somebody.

How funny was it for Johnny, from the Jesse Watters show, to confront Comey at his book singing and ask him to sign a seashell? :silly:
