Taxpayers of New York may now pay for the legal fees of Attorney General Letitia James, who faces mortgage fraud accusations from President Donald Trump’s administration. The New York State Operations Appropriations Bill includes a provision that could allocate up to $10 million for “reasonable attorneys’ fees and expenses incurred” by state officials involved in legal disputes tied to their employment. Lawmakers are expected to vote on this provision as part of the state budget.
