I have long maintained that CO2 is primarily a trailing indicator, not a forcing agent.
Look at the Vostok Ice Core data, and CO2 levels rise after or as temperature increases, and decline after it decreases, something related to the solubility of CO2 in water at different temperatures. With 70% of the planet's surface water, the CO2 dissolves in or is released from the oceans according to its relative solubility, determined by temperature.
