The Hidden Environmental Problem with Electric Cars
Story by Nadal Deepsin•

Electric cars are often hailed as the saviors of our environmental woes, but there's a hidden issue lurking beneath their shiny exteriors—the batteries. These batteries, primarily lithium-ion, require a significant amount of mining activities to extract the raw materials like lithium, cobalt, and nickel.

Mining operations are not only energy-intensive but can also devastate local ecosystems. For instance, lithium extraction in South America has been linked to water depletion and pollution, affecting local communities and wildlife.

The environmental cost of these batteries is a point that is often overlooked when discussing the benefits of electric vehicles.
