I think this ring kissing schtick has gotten past old.  I agree with a lot of his agenda, but
I know I'm not going to be a mindless lemming, following his lead at whim.  We need some dissent to keep us honest, and Paul's crusade against Faucxcii alone deserves my respect

The President should not have such unilateral power to cause such harm to the economy without the consent of Congress.

If trade agreemenst are really treaties, they need to be approved by the US Senate.  I'd also suspect that the US Senate would need to approve any modifications to the treaty or delegate that power to the President.

This is what the Founders were trying to warn us about ... too much unchecked, unbalanced power in the hands of any one individual or branch of government.

The US Constitution was designed to slow-roll radicalism to provide time for the mob's fever to break.

But nooooooooooooooooooooo ... we want things NOW! ... that lust for expediency leads to the erosion, and eventual demolition of the checks and balances that the Founders implemented to protect us from ourselves and our impatience.

Your question proves, yet again, you have zero idea who Trump is.  If Paul is a no-show at Mar-a-Lago, it will be the Senator's unlikely tantrum.  Trump would always welcome him to the Southern White House.

A classic Trump moment, recalled by both Trump and RFK Jr, is about the time Bobby's wife couldn't find available flights to get them to Palm Beach.  She called Trump and asked if they could use his plane.  When she told Bobby what she'd done, he was incredulous, asking her:  how could you do that, I'm suing him??  She replied:  when I mentioned your suit, he said he is well aware of it and laughed.

The actions POTUS will announce today are to correct the mistakes made in our trade agreements, both formal and informal, that have continued for decades to the detriment of our economy, manufacturing base, manufacturing independence and jobs --- making you about 20 years late with your "we want things NOW!" rant.

PS:  If you learn anything, learn that taking care of America and her citizens first isn't "radicalism" ---- it's smart.

After last night’s special elections and the other special elections  we’ve had this year where either Democrats have flipped red areas  or improved  their 2024 totals, I suspect we’ll start seeing more Republicans become or attempt to become independent from Trump

As prices rise and growth contracts  and voters become more and more disgruntled, Republicans are going to  have a tough choice ahead of them..loyalty  to Trump or loyalty to the voters in their state or districts. They can’t do both.

Susan Crawford, for example, flipped 10 counties here in Wi that went for Donald Trump in 2024.  Trump barely won the state in 2024 by .09%.

Of course I never objected to any tariffs on China. But reciprocal tariffs really does seem fair. And as the US has such a massive deficit, it really does hold all the cards here.

He just needs to be careful, he's playing with fire here.

Well I voted for Trump. 3 times. So I'm not a never Trumper. That earns me the right IMO to criticize him. And healthy vigorous debate is as American as apple pie.

He is in the top 3 most fiscal conservatives in the Senate.  Your POV implies no dissension.  If this is what MAGA is all about, maybe I need to rethink my overwhelming strong support of  Trump's economic plan.   I consider myself, pretty  literate on economics, so I hope you realize that  if what Trump does in the area of "reciprocal tariffs" fails, we are heading off the fiscal cliff even faster than if had gone the path of status quo.

Or did you notice thenews yesterday of the  Far East eco-consortium of SK-China-Japan.  If the world starts these side-trade partnering counter confederations, and decides to only trade within their allied spheres, then this could turn into an ugly almost embargo application of trade towards  our nation.   

How's do you think that that is going to work out?

At the very least, Americans are going to  see their net worth decline and cost-of-living further increase. Do you think that the American people are gonna reward Republicans in the 2026 midterms for that? Or in the 2028 presidential election were we could end up with a Democratic socialist for president?

Please don't be @catfish1957   Paul's dissent is not as consistently reliable as that of Murkowski, Collins and McConnell, but it is frequent and vivid.  And, good for him.  But, sometimes Paul gets so deep into the weeds and grabs onto one point like it's a chew toy that he loses sight of the big picture and goals.  This, IMO, appears to be one of them.

Recalibrating the US economy to a manufacturing base and securing an expanding jobs market, implementing actual fair trade,  eliminating our dependence on a global supply chain and reigniting the American dream is simply not for the weak.  Hopefully, they'll go fishin' for a while and allow the courageous and strong to finally fix what has been broken for decades.

We just need to look at the damage his first round of tariffs caused when we started out with a lower inflation rate and a stronger economy

To me at least, having to bail out farmers  who were damaged by his first round of tariffs is counterproductive.

Americans tight budget are about to get tighter. That means they’ll pull back spending. If nobody’s buying anything who’s going to manufacture anything

Trump says that he doesn’t care if car prices go up because he believes it’ll force Americans to buy American cars. No. Americans will hold onto their cars a lot longer. So who’s gonna manufacture  cars that nobody’s gonna buy?

He may not care that prices will go up. But rest assured, the voters will


Trump is of this belief that he’s going to  dial back the economy  to the 1940s. Not going to happen.

Trump and the Republicans are not immune from the same issues that got the Democrats tossed out in 2024


Now, a miracle could happen and everybody could come together and come to an agreement that makes everybody happy.  But watching what China, Japan, and South Korea just did does not make that likely
