We aren't at war with them, but they have been at war with us for decades. Through proxies, they have wholeheartedly supported attacks on America and Americans, ever since the seizure of the US Embassy and keeping Americans hostage in the '70s.
What Tucker doesn't get is that this was a strike to prevent a nuclear war. It is one thing to suffer the occasional bite of a terrorist sponsor, directly or through their proxies, but to allow that hostile regime to acquire the means of making city killing strategic strikes against not only our people, but the world, especially a regime that sees dying in the killing of keffirs as a ticket to Paradise (removing any deterrent normally presented as mutual fear of being destroyed) would not only be folly, but would be viewed in the long run as one of the most grave mistakes in the History of Western Civilization (at least by the remnants thereof).
If we could go back in time and ensure the assassination of the Nazi Party upper echelons, and prevent WWII, the elevation of Soviet forces to a world power, and the industrial grade slaughter of European and American populations (Americans as combatants), and much that transpired, would we? Most likely without hesitation.
Here, the writing is on the wall. We need not endure such devastation to anticipate and prevent it. Just consider it a meaningful response to the injuries already endured, an ounce of prevention.
