Soldiers shoot suspected cartel members dead, seize 60 rifles in Chihuahua

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Two suspected drug cartel members are dead after a firefight with Mexican soldiers near the town of Casas Grandes, Mexico.
The shooting took place Thursday as the soldiers approached a cabin in a mountain enclave known as Steven, Chihuahua. The deceased wore tactical clothing; two rifles were found next to their bodies, the Chihuahua Attorney General’s Office said in a statement.

Police found 60 firearms, tactical vests, more than 20 helmets, radios and an unspecified amount of ammunition inside the cabin, the AG’s Office said. Photos released by the agency show AR-15 style rifles and others with shorter barrels. A white pickup truck also was seized at the scene.
One of the deceased was identified as Jesus Adrian O.V. The other man was only described by authorities as a male in his 30s. The bodies were transported to Juarez for autopsies.
