Billionaire Elon Musk initiated sweeping layoffs of federal employees on Wednesday. The layoffs followed an executive order signed a day earlier from President Donald Trump that showed his support in seeking “large-scale reductions” to the federal workforce.

These moves are the latest in a series of actions by the administration, carried out largely by Musk’s U.S. DOGE Service, to make substantial cuts to government workers.
 
Here’s what the federal workforce looks like today and where these cuts could happen:

The federal government is the nation’s largest employer with just over 3 million workers, including the Postal Service but not active-duty military. While federal hiring has increased in recent years, federal workers, as a share of all Americans workers, remains at a historic low.

During Trump’s first term the federal workforce grew by about 2.6 percent, according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That rate under President Joe Biden was 4.8 percent, the highest since Ronald Reagan’s second term. But where government employment expanded under each administration differed.

The Democrats' plan to attack Trump is to demonize him that he hates minorities, so he does away with DEI, he hates education, so he does away with the Dep of Education, he hates helping people so he does away with FEMA, he hates immigrants so he goes after them aggresively for deportation, etc. and that he is only interested in destroying America.

We conservatives know this is not true and that he is returning the country directionally back toward what our Founders envisioned when they wrote the Constitution for the Republic.

He needs to continually pound the fact that the states are the reservoir for handling so many tasks irregularly taken up by the Feds.

The media will not help, so he needs to take it upon himself to continue the education of the masses who are not aware of the significance of federalism and a Constitutional Republic.  I think he will eventually need to feed some more federal funds to states, at least initially, in areas like education, agriculture, etc. to buttress his creds to that end.

These funds need to be significant to start with, and over time diminish as state responsibilities become effective.

No reason that the Federal government should be a welfare program for the normally unemployable.
