They've made so many precise predictions that have failed before. Of course, if they're right, welcome to the next Ice Age. An ice-free Arctic ocean will so diliute the North Atlantic that the thermohaline currents (in particular the Gulf Stream) will shut down, and with all that open water, and lack of heat transport from the tropics into the North Atlantic, the snow fall the next winter will begin the reglaciation. And for an Ice Age, besides drill, baby, drill, we might as well keep building the solar and wind generating capacity, and we'd better get cracking on nuclear power plants. Heck we'd better get cracking on nuclear power plants even if it keeps getting warmer on average.
Of course, it's probably really decreased cloud formation causing the warming, not CO2 (there are models which explain 100% of the warming since 1980 and 80% of the variance in temperatures based on cloud formation as the driver, rather than CO2, far, far better model fit than any the alarmist models).
A side thought, Russian climatologists are on average better scientists than ours and are less politicized than ours. Maybe the fear of an Ice Age is in part behind Putin's drive to conquer Ukraine. Most of Russia will not be a good place to be in an Ice Age.
