California has about 1300 named reservoirs. Many/most are at 80%-110% of "full pool", and nearly all well above seasonal average. Some conservatives seem to believe California lets all of its rain and snow water run off into the Pacific Ocean. Reality contradicts such stupid stereotypes. For extra credit, research "Delta Smelt court cases".

More to the point, though, the water for firefighting in LA County is controlled/mangled by LA County. The water in Pacific Palisades is not directly connected to local reservoirs. It is pumped and stored there by LA, not the State of California. Goobernor Noisome has zero jurisdiction over it.

Los Angeles County officials say 22 arrested, charges include burglary and looting during fires

Los Angeles County law enforcement said Saturday that 22 individuals have been arrested on charges that include burglary and looting during the ongoing wildfire emergency.

L.A. County Sheriff Robert Luna said there were 19 arrests in the Eaton \area and three in the Palisades area.

"All these individuals were in areas they were not supposed to be there, meaning they had no business being there," Luna said.

Of four people apprehended overnight two were arrested for unauthorized entry of an emergency area.

A curfew is in effect for the emergency areas in Los Angeles County. Police emphasized that those found in violation of the curfew – which is intended to give emergency responders and firefighters space to operate – will be arrested.

"Most of the arrests were made for burglary, looting, including trespassing, possession of narcotics, identity theft, and one suspect was on active parole and charged with the possession of a concealed firearm," Luna said.

IRS announces tax relief for victims of deadly LA fires

The Internal Revenue Service is providing tax relief for individuals and businesses in Southern California impacted by the deadly wildfires raging across Los Angeles County.

The IRS said in a news release it will extend the deadline for individuals and businesses impacted by the wildfires to file tax returns and make tax payments until Oct. 15, 2025. Residents of Los Angeles County qualify for the relief, but any counties later designated a disaster area by FEMA will also be eligible.

Additionally, individuals or businesses within the declared disaster area who suffer uninsured or unreimbursed losses related to the fires can claim those losses on their 2025 tax returns.

Any disaster relief payments victims of the wildfires may receive will also be income tax-free, the IRS said.

And taxpayers who may live outside the disaster area but whose records needed for meeting IRS deadlines were lost in the fires are also eligible for relief.

For years we’ve been bringing you reports about Scientology’s natural disaster antics, when it sends its “Volunteer Ministers” to the scenes of destruction along with camera crews to produce slick images and videos about the church supposedly doing good in the world.

Why does Scientology do this? ...

The biggest problem, of course, is that while you’re fleecing people in a science fiction setup like that, you don’t want interference from outside busybodies. So Hubbard also came up with a scheme he called “social coordination,” a collection of front groups whose job it is to make it look like Scientology is not weird, that it’s more mainstream than it actually is, and that it really is doing things you would expect a “church” to do in order to benefit local communities.

So, that’s why “Volunteer Ministers” are called out to the scenes of natural disasters in their high-visibility yellow T-shirts and yellow windbreakers along with camera crews in order to take advantage of photo opportunities in places where people are in real distress.  ...

Numerous online posters are claiming that Scientology VMs are picking up supplies at staging areas like at the Santa Anita race track, and taking them away in order to set up their photo opps somewhere else. ...

As my post stated, Los Angeles County and City control it. State government does not have direct control over what The Land of LA does with the water it draws from state and county reservoirs.

Another problem with theCalifornia-lets-all-its-water-run-off-into-the-Pacific-Ocean stupidity is ground water recharge, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groundwater_recharge_in_California . Accounting for 40%-60% of CA water usage, it's rather significant, if invisible. So far, Enviros and NIMBYs haven't blocked/hindered recharge projects. In my area, the aquifer has been so full for most of a year that water literally seeps through a low-lying section of a freeway I use for my daily commute.

The death toll is rising from devastating wildfires in Southern California that have destroyed more than 10,000 homes and forced the evacuation of hundreds of thousands of residents. The most significant of the fires include the Palisades Fire, which has burned approximately 20,000 acres and the Eaton Fire, which covers nearly 14,000 acres. Neither fire has been contained.
 
A major challenge in battling the fires is a dwindling water supply. The Palisades Fire is along the California coast, prompting people to question why firefighters aren’t using the Pacific Ocean to help extinguish the fires.

One Of Just Two CL-415 Super Scooper Planes Taken Out Of Palisades Fire Fight By Drone

The drone strike punched a hole in the CL-415's wing and caused all firefighting aircraft on the Palisades fire to be temporarily grounded.

Adrone’s collision with a water-dropping aircraft fighting the Palisades fire in Los Angeles caused temporary grounding of all aircraft working that fire and took out one of just two amphibious planes capable of repeatedly scooping 1,600 gallons of water from the ocean and delivering it onto nearby flames, Cal Fire told The War Zone.
 
A Canadair CL-415 Super Scooper turboprop plane smashed into a drone around 10 a.m. local time, Cal Fire spokesman Chris Thomas told The War Zone.
 
The combination of the Super Scooper being put out of service along with other firefighting aircraft being temporarily grounded was a blow to crews trying to put out the massive fire, one of several blazing across the Los Angeles area. Thousands of homes have been destroyed in the neighborhood located between Malibu and Santa Monica.

“This is creating a huge danger,” said Thomas. “This is an unprecedented fire. When we ground all aircraft, it could be anywhere from 15 minutes to half an hour. You know how far a fire can spread in half an hour.”

Clients of our friend were trying to lease a house while their home was being renovated. The lease was for $18,000 per month. They were to sign the  papers the day of the fire. Now the people renting want $30,000.

The vultures are circling and the flames aren’t even out yet.
