Often, a nation's conquerors were initially invited in to augment one side in a civil struggle (Anglo-Saxon mercenaries in post-Roman Britain, Islamic mercenaries in Visigothic Spain) or to supplement the military of a waning power (Goths in Western Roman Empire).

Often elements of a potentionally hostile nation are invited out of expediency of a losing, waning political and military power.  Eventually, the number of 'guests' reaches sufficient critical mass to overthrow their former employers or patrons, and start a greater influx of their own kind.

Empires and nations collapse from dissent, disunity, and weakenss within their own borders.

The west has become knee-jerk anti-Christian (i.e., self-flagellating, LOL) and thus is self-conscious about ever upsetting anyone via "insult".  Thus, in many ways the West has become "super Christian", a misreading of Christianity that never should one (or, the whole society) judge anyone, or offend them and hurt their feelings.  To prove it, they do everything they can to roll over for those "marginalized" outside our society, and end up letting them take over.  Also to wit, homos and trannies.  Hilarious because all the groups they adore, often hate each other.  It's actually a circular firing squad, but somehow it keeps going.
Common sense is an uncommon virtue.
