Members of the brutal Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA) are attempting to force their way into the United States during the last few weeks of the Biden-Harris administration. Over the Christmas and New Year period, gang members repeatedly attempted to fight their way across the southern border, using knives or other weapons such as blades, crowbars, and even broken alcohol bottles. These armed attacks on our borders constitute a worrying escalation of what has already been a chaotic situation at the U.S. border for the last four years. And according to reports, Tren de Aragua gang members are planning more such attacks.
This shocking story was broken on New Year’s Eve by the New York Post. The newspaper obtained a leaked memo by the Texas Department of Public Safety, showing that in the second half of December, twenty armed TdA gang members tried to force their way through a border gate in El Paso, Texas. According to the New York Post, an anonymous informant warned law enforcement that TdA was going to attempt repeat violent break-ins. In addition to the knives used by TdA, a source in Texas law enforcement noted that “gunfire has picked up big time” along the El Paso border in recent days and that pepper balls had to be used to disperse hostile illegal aliens.
While TdA is known for its brutality, its members typically do not use violence until after they are already inside the U.S. As FAIR has recently reported, the Venezuelan gang – non-existent on U.S. soil prior to the Biden-Harris administration’s open-borders policies – has now spread to 17 states. Thanks to open borders, TdA has been implicated in forced prostitution, violent home invasions, taking over apartment complexes, beating NYPD officers, and even giving its members a “green light” to murder police officers. By storming the border with weapons, TdA has escalated its brazenness and brutality, placing the lives of law enforcement officers in danger in the process.
