Dem lawmaker breaks with party, urges cooperation with Trump; ‘Resign’ demands Olbermann

emocrats are digging in to man the ramparts in opposition to President-elect Donald J. Trump, but at least one lawmaker has broken from the pack by suggesting that the nation would be better served if they tried to find common ground.
In a New Year’s Day op-ed published by the New York Times, Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-NY) says that perhaps it’s time to dial down the resistance and work toward finding compromise with the incoming president. This plea is likely to fall on deaf ears and have the Long Island congressman branded as a heretic, if not run out of office.
“As a Democratic member of Congress, I know my party will be tempted to hold fast against Mr. Trump at every turn: uniting against his bills, blocking his nominees, and grinding the machinery of the House and the Senate to a halt. That would be a mistake,” Suozzi wrote.
