I never visited TOS, and am only aware that there were quite a few disgruntled members.

May God comfort his family and may he rest in peace.

@libertybele how did you find TBR since you weren't from FR?

@mystery-ak

Check out my post here: https://www.gopbriefingroom.com/index.php?topic=572005.msg3235104#msg3235104

I actually did a search for "conservative message board" or something similar. I didn't learn about TBR at FR.

RIP Mr. Robinson.  His biggest mistake was not allowing dissent among of Conservatives in '16.  Was there 16 years,  and was gobsmacked many of us were muzzled for what was  reasonable counter and thought.  It will be interesting to see  what TOS does after his passing.

@mystery-ak   Well, if the truth be known, I was kicked out of another forum and forbidden to ever be allowed back, all  because they didn't want to face the truth as to what was happening and they decided I was too much 'doom and gloom' (@Wingnut  has pointed that out  here a couple of times) ... so long story short I did a search for conservative forum,  that was back awhile and at that time this forum came up and it was rated as a popular conservative forum.   So I checked it out for awhile and decided to join. Lol ...   besides my 'doom and gloom' outlook on some issues, you haven't kicked me out yet, so I've stayed.  happy77

It was really a pretty small forum and they did me a favor by locking me out ....this is by far the best forum around. I sincerely mean it.  You have created quite a forum like none other and you put a lot of time and effort keeping us and all the visitors we get informed.  Thank you for all of your hard work!!

It's a crying damned shame what Jim allowed to happen to FR. It was my home away from home for a very long time. I once loved the place.

Same here.  Felt betrayal for the countless spent there.

We who have a history with FR could go on for days about the subject, but probably shouldn't hijack the obits thread. I think there's a separate thread going on the late JR. I'll post some thoughts there.

That was the reason I left, combined with the raging anti-Catholicism.

The Catholic Caucus posts were often insulting to non-Catholics and non-Catholics were not allowed to respond to the posts if they were posted as "Catholic Caucus".

This contributed to the anti-Catholic sentiment over there.

Myself, I'd just repost the 'caucus' articles in the open forum for open comment. Problem solved.

Setting up "Caucus Threads" like that damage a Forum in the long-term, which is why we stopped allowing that years ago.  We tried it, didn't like it!

Buck Herring, music producer of the Jesus Revolution era, dies at 87 on Oct. 24.
Quote
He grew up in southern Arizona where he attended school. At age 19, he moved to California to pursue a career as a disc jockey in the radio industry. His career quickly took off and he became a well-known voice on radio stations across the West Coast. His path crossed with many legends in the music industry. At age 31 he gave his life and heart to Jesus Christ and soon thereafter married the love of his life Annie.

Buck was quite possibly one of the most important figures in the Jesus Music arena, an icon with a God given talent visible to those around him. He had a larger-than-life presence with a pioneering influence on the Jesus music ministry and his legacy is truly timeless. He was a gifted engineer and producer for many. Along with his wife Annie Herring and two of her siblings, Matthew and Nelly, were monumental within the Christian Music ministry in the 70/80's as the group 2nd Chapter of Acts.

After the group ended, Buck kept recording and producing Annie's music until their retirement a decade ago. The volume of recordings Buck accomplished is notable, yet the heart behind it even more so. Buck's heart for his Lord, Jesus Christ, shone through every project. When recently asked in an interview how he wanted to be remembered his answer was true to his faith journey: " It would be selfish to be remembered at all, but if, - then as a child of the King and one who was obedient".

Dick Cheney Dead at 84

Simon Kent 4 Nov 2025

Former U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney has died, his family revealed Tuesday. He was 84.

Cheney served as the 46th vice president of the United States from 2001 to 2009 under Republican President George W. Bush.

He also served as secretary of defense under Republican George Bush Snr, between 1989 and 1993.

Before that, Cheney acted as Gerald Ford’s White House chief of staff in the 1970s, previously spending a decade in the House of Representatives.

A statement released by the family announced Dick Cheney’s death:

Richard B. Cheney, the 46th Vice President of the United States, died last night, November 3, 2025. He was 84 years old.

His beloved wife of 61 years, Lynne, his daughters, Liz and Mary, and other family members were with him as he passed.

The former vice president died due to complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease.

For decades, Dick Cheney served our nation, including as White House Chief of Staff, Wyoming’s Congressman, Secretary of Defense, and Vice President of the United States.

Dick Cheney was a great and good man who taught his children and grandchildren to love our country, and to live lives of courage, honour, love, kindness, and fly fishing.

We are grateful beyond measure for all Dick Cheney did for our country. And we are blessed beyond measure to have loved and been loved by this noble giant of a man.

Cheney served as the U.S. representative for Wyoming’s at-large congressional district from 1979 to 1989, and as the 17th United States Secretary of Defense in the administration of President George H. W. Bush.

CNN notes Cheney was plagued by cardiovascular disease for most of his adult life, surviving a series of heart attacks.

Prayers for Cheney's family and friends. It's remarkable to me that he lived to be 84 with all the problems he had with his heart. His loved ones were granted far more time with him than most would have expected.

Cheney certainly was a powerful VP and likely made some very key decisions for Bush, perhaps even running the country from the sidelines.

Prayers of comfort for his family.

I have been pretty consistent in my political views for the last almost 60 years.  But that one exception is the Bush-Cheney era.  I was "all in" for W, during and including the ill fated WOT.  20 years later, Many of us feel betrayed and duped that the $T's (Trillions) spent and 1000's lives lost were unnecessary.

I do send my condolences to the family, but my read on his lasting legacy?  Not good.

This is the media talking point about Dick Cheney today. I've heard this seven times this morning.

That is why I don't turn on the TV; it's aggravating and I get most of my news from this forum.
Live in  harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.

And the protestant Caucus threads were even more insulting to Catholics.

First I heard of them.

Not good.

Same here. G. W. and his entourage (Karl Rove and Karen Hughes) were personal acquaintances of mine long before they entered the presidency and turned out to be the greatest political disappointments.

RIP Mr. Cheney. On 9/11, you were the right VP.

RIP Mr. Cheney. On 9/11, you were the right VP.

He should have stepped off the Bush ticket in 2004.  His remaining on that ticket left no clear candidate in 2008.  Would Bush have picked a good VP that could have beaten the racist O'Bastard?  Who knows, the only sure thing I knew at the time was Cheney wasn't going to run in '08.
