Elon Musk has declared that “hateful, unrepentant racists” should be removed from the Republican Party “root and stem” as the in-party feud over H-1B visas intensifies.

Conversations around H-1B visas have divided Donald Trump’s party, with his Department of Government Efficiency heads Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy on one side and other allies like Laura Loomer on the other. The Space X founder escalated the feud on Friday night when he called for some “contemptible fools” in the GOP to be removed.

Musk made the statement in response to a post on X by Neera Tanden, President Joe Biden’s director of the U.S. Domestic Policy Council.

“I am an Indian American who was born here and it’s crystal clear that the Democratic Party sees me as American and a large part of the base of the Republican Party does not. I hope Indian Americans remember this moment at the next election. They don’t see you as one of them. And never will,” she wrote.

“You thought they just hated other immigrants. But it turns out there’s no exception for you. As many of us have been telling you,” Tanden continued.

Scott Adams, creator of the comic strip Dilbert, chimed in, saying MAGA Republicans are now “taking a page from Democrats on how to lose elections while feeling good about themselves.”

The X owner agreed, writing: “Yes. And those contemptible fools must be removed from the Republican Party, root and stem.”

Musk clarified in a follow-up post that when he said “contemptible fools,” he was referring to “those in the Republican Party who are hateful, unrepentant racists.” He added: “They will absolutely be the downfall of the Republican Party if they are not removed.”

Steve Bannon Mocks Elon Musk In H-1B Visa War: 'Toddler'

https://www.newsweek.com/steve-bannon-mocks-elon-musk-h-1b-visa-war-toddler-2006897

In a post on his X social media platform, formerly Twitter, South African-born Musk commented: "The reason I'm in America along with so many critical people who built SpaceX, Tesla and hundreds of other companies that made America strong is because of H1B.

"Take a big step back and F*** YOURSELF in the face. I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend."

A screenshot of the post was shared by Bannon on Gettr, with Trump's former strategist and 2016 campaign manager adding: "Someone please notify 'Child Protective Services'— need to do a 'wellness check' on this toddler."

And Trump apparently sides with Musk...

Trump supports immigration visas backed by Musk: ‘I have many H-1B visas on my properties’

https://nypost.com/2024/12/28/us-news/donald-trump-backs-h-1b-visa-program-supported-by-elon-musk/

Quote
President-elect Trump told The Post Saturday he supports immigration visas for highly skilled workers, appearing to side with Elon Musk in the roiling intra-MAGA debate on the issue.

“I’ve always liked the visas, I have always been in favor of the visas. That’s why we have them,” Trump said by phone, referring to the H-1B program, which permits companies to hire foreign workers in specialty occupations.

“I have many H-1B visas on my properties. I’ve been a believer in H-1B. I have used it many times. It’s a great program,” added Trump, who restricted access to foreign worker visas in his first administration and has been critical of the program in the past.

There is zero doubt the program needs a major overhaul. If you want to bring in the big brains that is fine. But anyone can wear a Minnie Mouse costume or work in a 7-11.

97% of human accomplishment since the 14th century occurred from men born in Western Europe. Pass it on.

Musk is about to learn what most of us learned way back in late 1990s, the old Freeper days. There are a lot of racist, white supremecist a-holes in the activist conservative movement. Anyone with any sense would recognize that "America First" means we must bring the best people in the world here to kick China's butt and reassert our greatness. To many of the Freepers "America First" means "white middle-aged WASP males first."

If these people were possible to communicate with, TBR would not even exist. But they aren't. They are trolls. Musk is making a big mistake engaging them. He should just proceed with what he intends to do and then let them howl like stuck pigs.

At this point it looks like Trump is siding with Musk, so this could get interesting. Are they going to turn on Trump, too?  Maybe they will claim that Trump is realy on their side, but this is more 4-dimensional chess.  :silly:

They need to prove that's who they are bringing in. We went to the moon without bringing in 100's of thousands from other countries. What about elevating our citizens?

America First means what it says!

The correct solution to the H1-B visa problems is.

(1) create a rebuttable presumption of unfair labor practices on the part of any employer who replaces an American with an H1-B visa holder in any position subtantially identical to that from which the American was discharged, with any employer who cannot show in open court to a preponderance of the evidence standard that the employee was, in fact, discharged for cause, and that no other American could be found to fill the position, subjected to sanctions including the discharged employee's choice of being reinstated or receiving two years salary and benefits as settlement, and the employer being barred from hiring H1-B visa holders for a term of two years for a first offense, five for a second, and ever again for a third.

(2) tighten standards for showing that no American can fill the position,

and (yes)

(3) in the context of those reforms, increasing the availability of H1-B visas.

The first two put Americans First, the last helps with America First by bringing in talent from overseas.

Thanks for being bold enough to say that, Fred.

But the truth is that "the men born in Western Europe"... let's be more frank about this and call them the WHITE men born in Western Europe (and many of whom live elsewhere today), have relinquished their grasp on "accomplishment" for other pleasures and foibles.

I read another piece earlier today that says that about 42% of the children born in Germany (may have been this or last year?) were born to... "foreigners". Non-German.

Can you say, "Great Replacement"?
I knew you could.
Too bad many other members of this forum are afraid to say that.

Things like this do NOT happen because the "foreigners" overwhelmed us "against our will".
I happened because... we LET it happen.
And so it goes.

We got to the Moon kidnapping a bunch of German Scientist and Engineers after WWII during ONI 'Operation Paperclip' (before the Soviets could abscond them).

You only have to see what is happening with Canada and Europe to see what bringing people from a shit hole country does to your country.

Musk just wants more economic slaves for his companies, and bleep trump if he goes back on his word.

musk and his ilk doesn’t want top talent, he wants cheap talent. That’s the difference between the German scientists and what trump and the other tech bros want. It’s a bleep joke to suggest America doesn’t have enough home grown talent at the moment, it’s literally got a surplus of people in the stem field, musk the traitor just wants cheaper talent who can’t leave, will accept cheap pay and work 18+ hours a day.

Get rid of h1b's. If we need people, then we need people. Increase regular immigration. H1b people can go through the process of immigrating like everyone else, no need to move them to the head of line because billionaires want them here. They shouldn't get everything they want.

The Patriarch Tree
@PatriarchTree
Thanks to @JadedByPolitics for informing me that the Great H-1B Knife Fight began when Trump picked Sriram Krishnan (@sriramk) for a tech policy advisory role. Krishnan is apparently buddies with @DavidSacks and @elonmusk.

What happened after the Krishnan appointment was announced that led to a four-day internecine MAGA brawl? I honestly don't know. Somebody apparently did an oppo-dump on Krishnan, and when he was defended by his friends, the friends somehow made it worse.

Krishnan apparently had a habit of disparaging the U.S.-born engineering talent pool, by way of explaining why it is that American tech companies hire so many foreign-born engineers. This viewpoint was endorsed and/or defended by @DavidSacks, @elonmusk and @VivekGRamaswamy.

Ramaswamy's defense of Krishnan was particularly offensive to H1B critics in the MAGA grassroots. People who have spent years in conservative activism -- smart, well-informed, committed conservatives -- were insulted as "ignorant," etc., by those in the pro-H1B faction.

Interesting point. How many of these scientists did we bring in? I would bet it's no more than 2,000 and that number is probably high. Also, these people were working on highly technical defense related projects. They weren't replacing American Citizens at theme parks, resorts, or golf clubs.

Elon Musk’s visa meltdown seems totally pointless
By Lena Renconvich

Sadly, the schism started by Musk and Ramaswamy over the H-1B visa program may be about nothing more than switching to another existing visa.  While the H-1B does not specify excellence, the  O-1A visa is already in place to facilitate temporary status (three years) for individuals with an extraordinary ability in science, education, business, or athletics.

Musk has stipulated in his arguments (which have driven an unwelcome rift into the MAGA base) that “I am referring to bringing in via legal immigration the top ~0.1% of engineering talent as being essential for America to keep winning.”

This “top 0.1%” sounds exactly like the parameters laid out in the O-1A visa.  Perhaps he should be arguing that “science” may not currently include tech engineers, so the visa should be expanded to explicitly facilitate this modern branch of science.

Ramaswamy has previously stated that the “H-1B system is badly broken & should be replaced with one that focuses on selecting the very best of the best (not a lottery), pro-competitive (no indentured service to one company)...”  So why would he not support abolishing the “broken system” and switch to a merit-based O-1A visa?

The vitriol reveals something else — a hidden anger and resentment toward what Ramaswamy calls “dumb and lazy” Americans.  Elon is even more outraged at the pushback to his proposition, telling the unwashed public to “take a big step back and F--- YOURSELF in the face,” revealing a surprising side to the man, far more “vulgar” than any of president or candidate Trump’s comments.  “I will go to war on this issue the likes of which you cannot possibly comprehend.”  Scary!

Despite New York Post Phone Call, Question and Answer, Donald Trump Companies Do Not Use H1B Visas - The Last Refuge

When I read the New York Post article proclaiming that President Trump supports the fraudulent system known as H1B visa hiring, I knew something was amiss because we previously looked at Trump’s various business hires and use of the visa process.

Apparently, the NY Post called President Trump to get him to weigh in on the controversial subject that has been triggered by Elon Musk saying he would “go to war on this issue” to maintain the H1B visa system -and subsequent foreign employment for tech skilled workers- his various companies depend upon.

Here’s the topline takeaway from the article that has triggered many:
