Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz said there were more than two dozen confidential human sources in the crowd on Jan. 6, but only three were assigned by the FBI to present for the event, while stressing that none of the sources were authorized or directed by the bureau to "break the law" or "encourage others to commit illegal acts," Fox News has learned.

Horowitz on Thursday released his highly anticipated report on the FBI’s Handling of its Confidential Human Sources and Intelligence Collection Efforts in the Lead Up to the Jan. 6, 2021 Electoral Certification.

 "Today’s report also details our findings regarding FBI CHSs who were in Washington, D.C., on January 6," the report states. "Our review determined that none of these FBI CHSs was authorized by the FBI to enter the Capitol or a restricted area or to otherwise break the law on January 6, nor was any CHS directed by the FBI to encourage others to commit illegal acts on January 6."

The report revealed that the FBI had a minor supporting role in responding on Jan. 6, 2021—largely because the event was not deemed at the highest security level by the Department of Homeland Security.

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz confirmed Thursday that the FBI used undercover sources as part of its response to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, a revelation that lends clarity to an aspect of the event that has long been a source of speculation.

Horowitz said in a long-awaited 84-page report that 26 FBI sources, most of whom were unpaid, were in Washington for the riot. Some of them were embedded among rioters in restricted areas, and four FBI sources also entered the Capitol with them. He noted, however, that the FBI did not authorize any of those undercover, known as “confidential human sources,” to enter the Capitol or otherwise break the law.

The FBI sources who entered the restricted areas have not faced any charges to date, Horowitz said.

The DOJ, through U.S. Attorney Matthew Graves’s office in Washington, D.C., has charged more than 1,500 people in connection to the riot in the past four years. A majority of them have faced minor trespassing violations, while hundreds of others have faced more serious charges, such as assaulting police officers or destroying property.

Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz released a report Thursday revealing that the FBI had more than two dozen confidential human sources in the crowd of protesters on the Capitol grounds on Jan. 6, 2021.

The 79-page report delved into the FBI's handling of confidential human sources and the bureau's intelligence collection efforts in the lead-up to the Capitol incursion.
 
There were a total of 26 confidential human sources on the ground on Jan. 6. Of that group, four entered the Capitol and an additional 13 entered the restricted area around the building.

"None of these FBI CHSs were authorized to enter the Capitol or a restricted area, or to otherwise break the law on January 6, nor was any CHS directed by the FBI to encourage others to commit illegal acts on January 6," the report said.

"The [Office of Inspector General] determined that many of these 26 CHSs had provided information relevant to the January 6 Electoral Certification before the event and that a few CHSs also provided information about the riot as it occurred."

EXCLUSIVE: Senate Republicans are demanding answers on whether confidential human sources from Justice Department agencies beyond the FBI were used on Jan. 6, 2021, while also questioning whether Inspector General Michael Horowitz thoroughly reviewed classified and unclassified communications between handlers and their sources, warning that without that review, there may be a "major blind spot" in his findings.

Yes, you are right. Gestapo is more accurate. However, the FBI was with Antifa when they were burning down cities and assaulting people. The FBI was supplying and protecting Antifa the whole time, and still do today.

Also, the FBI was leading the crowd on J6. So, it could be said that the FBI is with both sides.

The most important point is that the FBI became more of a political bureau, interested almost exclusively in domestic political issues, rather than a police organization with the mission to capture criminals.

Once the FBI discovered that the vast majority of criminals are Democrats or are protected by Democrats, they abandoned the criminal aspects of their charter and became a "Democrat political police force" organization instead.
