Mayor Johnston has made it clear that he will go as far as using city police and local volunteers to physically prevent the deportation of illegal immigrants, including those with potential gang affiliations.

In a recent interview with Denverite, Johnston unapologetically declared his intention to turn Denver into a fortress of resistance against immigration enforcement, framing his actions as a moral crusade.

“We won’t change that, because those are one of our core values,” Johnston said, adding, “We’re not going to sell out those values to anyone. We’re not going to be bullied into changing them.”

Scene:
A street barricade in Denver.

On one side, the police of Mayor Johnston.
On the other, soldiers, tanks, and humvees sent by Mr. Trump.

Commanding officer walks up to the line and speaks to the police captain:
"Sir, you have two choices here. One is to stand down and stand back. The other is to take a stand...a stand against US. I'm sure you and your men want to go home tonight. What will your choice be?"
