Walmart has signaled price hikes should be expected if President-elect Donald Trump makes good on his plan to implement a broad tariff regime.

The retailer’s CFO John David Rainey said the company would likely have to raise its prices, which is against its model and wishes.

“We never want to raise prices,” he told CNBC. “Our model is everyday low prices. But there probably will be cases where prices will go up for consumers.”

Rainey added that it’s too early to determine which products could cost more due to the tariffs.

The could buy stuff from America or places other than China.

America needs to wean its supply chain off Chi-com dependencies.  Afterall, they are Communists.

It's a shame Walmart promised to buy American, a few years back, and they reneged.  Now they can kiss my azz for that.

How many products are made in America anymore, least of all, the ones Walmart customers would want? Union wages have a stranglehold over American manufacturers, and the prices of whatever products they make reflect that.

Wal*mart is not my goto for things anymore.  So I could care much less what some hump CFO who sucks China's tit.

Everyone appears to be hyperventilating on Trump tariffs.

Let's be clear on how tariffs work:  They are assessed on imported products that are already made in the USA. 

They work by forcing the typically highly-subsidized foreign products(read China) to 'level the playing field' so American manufacturing can compete. That means jobs and higher US manufacturing base.

Tariffs may also be placed on foreign products to retaliate on heavy tariffs placed on imported American products(such as the EU that imposes a 10% on American imported vehicles while US tariff on EU imports is only 2.5%.  Does that seem fair to anyone BTW?)

Will these car prices go up? Likely if foreign made.  But what will most certainly happen is that eventually the two entities get together and negotiate lower tariffs and poof, the consumer wins as prices come down, that is, unless a consumer really wants a foreign-made car.

The end result is Americans get more manufacturing hence jobs, domestic productivity and taxes.
