No.  Not a Trump to replace him and hopefully this wasn't the reason for selecting Marco.  DeSantis owes Trump no favors.

DeSantis sets timetable for naming Rubio Senate successor amid calls for a Trump to fill the seat

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis says he is likely to make a decision on who will fill Sen. Marco Rubio’s U.S. Senate seat by early January, emphasizing that the governor's office has already begun vetting several possible candidates

President-elect Donald Trump officially announced last week that he would nominate Rubio, the three-term senator from Florida and a senior Republican member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Intelligence committees, to serve as secretary of state in his incoming administration.

"Senator Marco Rubio is expected to resign from the Senate to assume duties as Secretary of State when the Trump administration takes power on January 20th, creating a vacancy roughly two months from today," DeSantis wrote in a statement Monday morning.

The statement from Florida's two-term conservative Republican governor comes as some key Trump allies have recommended that Lara Trump, Republican National Committee co-chair and the president-elect's daughter-in-law, be named by DeSantis to fill Rubio's seat for the next two years............

.............Among those who have touted Lara Trump over the past couple of days include Florida's other GOP member of the U.S. Senate - Sen. Rick Scott - Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Katie Britt of Alabama, as well as Rep. Anna Paulina Lune of Florida.............

If you want a Republican to hold this seat in 2026, then you need someone with Florida roots to fill it.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

Imagine if Joe Biden nominated Hunter Biden’s wife to be Secretary of State.  That’s about how Lara Trump would be received, and possibly worse because she only moved to the state 3 years ago.  It’s totally ridiculous for MAGA world to push this on DeSantis.

I don't consider Lara Trump to have FL roots.  Byron Donalds would make an excellent Senator, but that would put the GOP less one conservative in the House.

Again, DeSantis owes Trump absolutely nothing, so I don't see that as an issue here.

We need a conservative in that Senate seat and I'm sure DeSantis is well aware of that.

The MAGA world may try to push this on DeSantis but I don't think he's going to bite as he marches to the beat of his own drum and I would be very surprised if he were to put Lara Trump in such an important seat. What would she bring to the Senate seat??

How about Eric or Don Jr?   *****rollingeyes*****

She seems like a nice gal, and I have some friends in Wilmington who know her.  But as a senator, ahead of everyone in line for the job?  Nooooo way.
