US military’s new counter-UAS system tested, can detect up to 500 targets
In a recent military exercise, the United States showcased the Cerberus XL C-UAS, a reliable system featuring long-range sensors and counter-UAS technology.
The system combines thermal/visual imaging, 3D radars, and RF detection to quickly find and track drones, with non-kinetic effectors capable of neutralizing threats up to two miles (3 kms) away.
Modular system provides air security in challenging environments
The system, which has the ability to detect up to 500 simultaneous targets and operate in extreme conditions, is modular and adaptable for air, ground, and maritime threats, providing multi-domain situational awareness for air security in areas like military sites, airports, seaports, borders, and critical infrastructure, US tech company Teledyne FLIR points out.
“Cerberus XL C-UAS addresses the entire counter-drone kill chain, including detect, track, identify and defeat. The platform is designed to easily integrate with kinetic defeat solutions and features sensors with advanced AI to boost target identification accuracy,” Teledyne FLIR Defense said in a press release.
