Zelenskyy: “People Are More Important Than Land, We’ll Get the Land Back”
Vlad Litnarovych | Oct 28, 2024 | 13:36In a recent interview on October 28, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy underscored the importance of human lives over territorial losses, stating, “People are more important than land. We will get the land back, but not the people. We live by this law.”
In contrast, Zelenskyy noted that since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion, an estimated 650,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded. He expressed the difficulties of fighting against Russia, which he characterized as a regime that relies on “brute force” and displays a flagrant disregard for the lives of its own soldiers.
“There is only one law in Russia: if soldiers don’t advance, they are shot by their own side. Russia has itself killed countless mobilized soldiers out of fear that they might retreat or refuse to attack. Their law counts on brute force, with no regard for lives lost. Russia now has approximately 650,000 casualties both dead and wounded.”
Zelenskyy also pointed on Russia’s reluctance to retrieve the bodies of fallen soldiers from the battlefield, calling it a grim representation of the war: “Their soldiers’ bodies rot in the fields, abandoned where they fell.”
“This is the face of Putin’s war. In the East, they advance by overwhelming us with sheer numbers and using what can only be described as a meat grinder of their own troops.” . . .
