Texas Scorecard By Will Biagini September 23, 2024

The Texas land commissioner argued the Biden-Harris administration would stop at nothing to cripple the state’s oil and gas industry.

Texas has sued the federal government for waging war against the state’s oil and gas industry through the weaponization of environmental laws.

According to a press release by Attorney General Ken Paxton, the Biden-Harris administration’s decision to classify the dunes sagebrush lizard as endangered was unlawful and violated the Endangered Species Act.

“The Biden-Harris Administration’s unlawful misuse of environmental law is a backdoor attempt to undermine Texas’s oil and gas industries which help keep the lights on for America,” he said.

“I warned that we would sue over this illegal move, and now we will see them in court,” Paxton continued. The attorney general’s original warning gave the administration 60 days to reverse the classification, or the state would file suit.

The lawsuit—specifically targeted at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service—asserts that listing the lizard as endangered was based on inconclusive and unreliable speculations about its status.

🚨 NEW: I’m suing The Biden Administration again for the unlawful misuse of environmental law. This is a backdoor attempt to undermine Texas’s oil and gas industries which help keep the lights on for America. I warned that we would sue over this illegal move, and now we will see them in court.

I don't understand how an Executive Agency can dictate regulations that cause significant harm without a law being passed by Congress.

Executive Agencies are making up regulations, bypassing Congress, that are harmful to the economy and the workers' who jobs get lost.

Especially with Chevron being overturned.
But then, these are Democrats who pay no attention to the rules.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
