Well they knew the hurricane had a possibility of making it far inland.  The governor of NC should have declared a state of emergency just in case or at least had some resources standing by just in case.

IMHO I think should have been pretty obvious to the governor of NC that this administration is pretty useless in helping Americans.

It's better to be pro-active than waiting to be reactive.  Much simpler to err on the safe side.

LEAKED EMAILS SHOW DEMOCRATS CONSPIRED TO SLOW DOWN RESPONSE IN NC

BCBS is coordinating their relief effort in direct coordination with Cooper's office.

The Democrat response EXPLICITLY FORBADE volunteers from volunteering spontaneously.

The Democrat-run BCBS response further restricted volunteer activities to the Red Cross and VolunteerNC -- a government entity.

PHOTOS: Western North Carolina Town Lies in Ruins Weeks After Hurricane Helene

SWANNANOA, North Carolina — There is eerie silence in the small town of Swannanoa, North Carolina, two weeks after Hurricane Helene.

Mud-covered cars still lie along the highway like carcasses. A church sits empty on Sunday, its roof partially collapsed.

Get FEMA housed and in 30 days from the disaster, get around to taking care of the locals...

Armed guards at a FEMA camp is standard protocol????

Definitely a story to closely watch. I agree that something just doesn't seem right here.  The fact also that there is only one way in and out?  Ok ... if they are housing all these 'FEMA' people .... how are they assisting and housing the people who were devastated???  Where and when does their help come. It's been weeks.

Might this be a huge camp to put all those devastated while they help them rebuild? (Doubtful).   Could someone be buying up all the property that's been affected and settling with those who were displaced for pennies????

Exactly.  That's just it.  I don't think they are going to take care of them -- perhaps encamp them, but as for rebuilding, I'm doubtful.

It's a security thing...they're afraid of all the pissed off local hillbillies (which include some very good friends of mine).  Wouldn't be surprised if they actually go out in armed convoys like its Baghdad 2004 all over again.

FEMA claims an ‘armed militia’ threatened workers — here's the truth

FEMA has been claiming that threats from an “armed militia” have forced the agency to relocate workers in the Hurricane Helene disaster zone — but the Vice President of the United Cajun Navy, Brian Trascher, says that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

“It turns out it was like the worst militia ever because it was just one guy who went on, and I believe this is the correct story, he went on TikTok, and he was showing videos of federal employees and federal vehicles going around, I guess, near his property,” Trascher tells Glenn Beck of “The Glenn Beck Program.”

“I believe he made a comment that was construed as like, you know, he was not happy about it. Maybe he was going to do something about it. Somehow, that turned into ‘There’s an armed militia,’” he continues. “Fortunately, the North Carolina National Guard came out fairly quickly and said, ‘Hey, look, we talked to our troops, they haven’t seen anything like that.’”

While it appears to be an issue of rumors and miscommunication, Trascher isn’t thrilled with the government response, or trusting of it.

“You know the federal government will tell you, ‘Don’t believe your lying eyes,’ and then their allies in media unfortunately will stand in front of the burning Hindenburg and tell everybody that it was just a mostly peaceful blimp landing,” Trascher says, offering a piece of advice for the feds: “At least try to tell the truth.”

“Well, that’s difficult for a lot of people to do, especially at the higher levels of government,” Glenn responds.

While it turns out that the threat was a bust, Glenn and Trascher both believe Americans should steer clear of threatening government agencies like that one-man “armed militia.” ...............

Hurricane Helene forces North Carolina residents to sleep in tents where homes once stood
More than 50 people remain missing in North Carolina after Hurricane Helene
By Audrey Conklin Fox News
Published October 22, 2024 4:00am EDT

SWANNANOA, N.C. – Nearly a month after Hurricane Helene devastated areas of the Southeast and killed more than 250 people, North Carolina residents are sleeping in tents where their homes once stood, even as temperatures drop to the 30s at night.

Kris Weil is one of several people in hard-hit Swannanoa sleeping in a tent with his dog outside his home, which was destroyed by intense flooding and winds on Sept. 27. Weil's story is nothing short of a miracle.

Less than 24 hours before the storm struck the Appalachian Mountains, Weil's 8-month-pregnant girlfriend was transported to the hospital because she was experiencing chest pain. Weil stayed home to prepare for the baby, at which point he started getting flood warnings on his phone, not knowing he'd soon be left with nothing.

Weil watched as water rapidly flooded his neighborhood and then made its way inside his home.

Less than a mile from Weil, Dara Cody and her neighbor are sleeping in tents where their homes once stood in picturesque yards on the banks of the Swannanoa River. (Fox News Digital)
