Secret Service admits golf course wasn’t searched before Trump assassination attempt

Secret Service agents didn’t sweep the outskirts of Donald Trump’s Florida golf course where his alleged would-be assassin was hiding because the former president’s visit was an “off-the-record” plan, the embattled agency’s acting director admitted.

Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, allegedly set up a sniper’s nest on the edge of Trump International West Palm Beach and hid there undetected for nearly 12 hours before Trump, 78, teed off on Sunday afternoon, federal prosecutors said.

Acting Secret Service head Ronald Rowe Jr. said Monday that agents didn’t mount an intense search of the perimeter because the 45th president’s round wasn’t on his official calendar.

The real issue is that the guy was apparently there 12 hours before Trump off the cuff decided to play some golf. How did he know?

This begs the question of were there multiple shooters stationed at Trump's likely places he might have visited. I find it highly unlikely that one shooter just happened to get very very lucky.

There is nothing SOP in regard to the protection of Trump.  It is clear, the government is behind these efforts.  This latest guy running around the world portending to be a weapons dealer, recruiting people from multiple countries...for what??

This is NOT over.  Trump's life is more at risk with every day approaching election day.  These people want him gone, and still utter this nonsense.  He needs to be smarter about his safety.  The Secret Service is NOT doing their job.  Let a true professional into the picture, and he is shot from half a mile away, and the shooter disappears into thin air, just like Dallas.

Someone suggested Trump should go play a round.  I doubt he made that decision on his own.  Someone in that inner circle is part of the cabal looking to kill him.

IIRC it is fairly common knowledge that Trump frequently uses that course when he is in MaL. I think that he was probably staking the area out hoping for a chance.

They take their orders from someone higher up and I will guarantee you it isn't someone outside the WH comers and goers.

I guess if you're not President, Secret Service protection isn't protection at all.

I think that story has…blown up, I think the latest is that it was a handler ‘training’ an explosive dog that alerted on a car and the trainer called it in, they say it was a false alarm now. Where there explosives and it’s being whitewashed and memory holed?

If the gov. was behind the attempts to assassinate Trump, why did the one SS agent shoot at Routh when he just could have passed him by, gave him a wink, and Trump would have been an easy target?
