Surgeon general warns parents are facing dangerous levels of stress
by Lauren Irwin - 08/28/24 10:48 AM ET

The U.S. surgeon general is warning that parenting can be harmful for your mental health because mothers and fathers face dangerous levels of stress.

In an advisory issued Wednesday, Dr. Vivek Murthy said he is blessed to be a father of two, but he noted how difficult he finds parenting for himself and others. Being a dad is both the “toughest and most rewarding” job he’s ever had, Murthy said.

“The stresses parents and caregivers have today are being passed to children in direct and indirect ways, impacting families and communities across America,” he said.

In the advisory, Murthy said 41 percent of parents say they are so stressed most days they can’t function, and 48 percent say their stress is completely overwhelming compared to other adults.

Murthy argued that parents today are facing different challenges from older generations, including social media, an increasing youth mental health crisis and the “epidemic of loneliness” that impacts younger people and their parents.

If I were a parent and had to send my child to public school, I'd be stressed too because of all the 'wokeness' and fear of my child being subjected to liberal ideology; transgenderism and the like.

Well...being a parent is pretty darn stressful as a rule.  But probably more so now in a lot of ways.

Way back when, the parents could let the kids out to play. Gave them a break and the kids burned off energy. The worst worry was a skinned knee.

Now they are bombarded with the dangers of the internet. Between the isolation that creates and the fear kids have about the world in general it's just not conducive to a carefree childhood or parenting situation.

I'll add: Throw in economic uncertainty, and it's pretty rough out there. Especially considering Harris has in the past made no bones about wiping out an industry (Oil and Gas) that is the butter on the bread around here. If more knew that half the State's funding is related to the Oil and Gas industry here, I think more would be concerned. No matter, Trump will get our electoral votes, but it's the ones from elsewhere that are in question that will decide where the country goes.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

After a brief discounting of this, I started realing my grandchildren, and everyone's for that fact are subject to

1. Abduction, child trafficking
2. Gender bending lowlifes in education, who want to f-- up our kid's identity.
3. Electronic addictions are almost now baked into the lives of our young
4. A government that has spent itself into perpetual debt, with no way out.
5. We've become a Godless society, and all the pitfalls of that.
6. Drugs like Fentanyl that can kill at an instant
7. Jobs and career opportunies lessened due an open porous border

When I was a parent over youngsters in the '80's we had stresses.  But then, they seemed to be workable.

American Military News by Timothy Frudd  August 30, 2024

U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy warned that parenting can be harmful for the mental health of parents due to the amount of stress involved in raising children. Murthy’s warning came in an advisory published by the Biden-Harris administration’s Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday.

“Parents have a profound impact on the health of our children and the health of society,” Murthy wrote. “Yet parents and caregivers today face tremendous pressures, from familiar stressors such as worrying about their kids’ health and safety and financial concerns, to new challenges like navigating technology and social media, a youth mental health crisis, an epidemic of loneliness that has hit young people the hardest.”

In Wednesday’s advisory, Murthy said that prolonged or severe stress can have a “deleterious effect.” He noted, “41% of parents say that most days they are so stressed they cannot function and 48% say that most days their stress is completely overwhelming compared to other adults (20% and 26%, respectively).”

U.S. Surgeon General Issues Advisory on the Mental Health and Well-Being of Parents

https://www.hhs.gov/about/news/2024/08/28/us-surgeon-general-issues-advisory-mental-health-well-being-parents.html

Washington, D.C. – Today, United States Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy released a Surgeon General’s Advisory on the Mental Health and Well-Being of Parents, highlighting the urgent need to better support parents, caregivers, and families to help our communities thrive.

Over the last decade, parents have been consistently more likely to report experiencing high levels of stress compared to other adults. 33% of parents reporting high levels of stress in the past month compared to 20% of other adults. When stress is severe or prolonged, it can have a harmful effect on the mental health of parents and caregivers, which in turn also affects the well- being of the children they raise. Children of parents with mental health conditions may face heightened risks for symptoms of depression and anxiety and for earlier onset, recurrence, and prolonged functional impairment from mental health conditions.

“Parents have a profound impact on the health of our children and the health of society. Yet parents and caregivers today face tremendous pressures, from familiar stressors such as worrying about their kids’ health and safety and financial concerns, to new challenges like navigating technology and social media, a youth mental health crisis, an epidemic of loneliness that has hit young people the hardest. As a father of two kids, I feel these pressures too,” said U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy. “With this Advisory, I am calling for a fundamental shift in how we value and prioritize the mental health and well-being of parents. I am also outlining policies, programs, and individual actions we can all take to support parents and caregivers.”

Murthy seems to have a few mental health issues of his own.

I am not and never have been a leftist.

If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

You left out a school system and government that work hand in hand to remove children they deem to be 'neglected or abused' as in not catered to in the delusions about gender or orientation implanted by 'pride' and 'wokeness' indoctrination.
NO abuse necessary, just not toeing the Party line.
