While I can see most stalwart conservatives having a problem with Trump, for the average voter the two platforms of the two candidates could not be more stark.
America has a choice of picking someone who's policies will put the country on more solid ground on a number of issues, or forcefully right over the cliff.
Basically if you like to eat and pay your bills vote one way, or if you want to turn it into a likeability/popularity contest with a younger, fresh face, even if it belongs a vapid, incompetent, psychotic despot, vote the other.
Let's be blunt, that isn't going to change if it's DeSantis, Sanders, Abbot, or any other Republican hopeful. If we learned nothing else, we learned with both Romney and McCain that every GOP presidential candidate is the second coming of Hitler. If America chooses Harris this time, they aren't going to choose the GOP candidate next time.
So the Rats have offered the worst of what they have. The choice I see coming out of the debates will be very clear. If American chooses that, then it's pretty much all she wrote from here.
I am in sympathy with those who object in rational terms to policy failures of the first Trump term. I honestly believe, unlike some, that 2020 was stolen, because I believed that 2016 was supposed to be. The incredulous shock from ranking Dems that Hillary had lost, even the Newsweek issues that had to be recalled with "Madame President" on the cover (I know they had prepped issues for either outcome), the general appearance of those who saw their favorite horse, one they'd bet on heavily break a leg in the fourth turn, all bespoke a situation where the outcome was supposed to be a given. Only it didn't fly.
I also think that the entire COVID mess was timed in order to make reelection harder for Trump, with the spin-off that it made the Steal possible. Many different methods were used, but the one which arguably put the Dems over the top was the mail in ballot, drop box stuffing, and the like. Obscuring the process in the 'battleground' states made it further possible to do double counts and produce (and continue producing) ballots until Biden had a majority of votes. Fool me once, shame on you. No repeated failures for the people to whom the ends justify the means--any means-to power.
Trump has been the subject of a full court nearly decade long hate fest. Most of those who 'hate' him don't even know why. The same could have been done with virtually anyone else.
Trump has to push issues, push viable, rational, solutions, explain them at the 6th grade level, and force Kamala to respond on those issues, or conspicuously leave that vacuum for Trump to use against her.
(She has no answers, no real world policy.)She will be meticulously handled, and by experts, especially because she isn't good enough to get through intellectually.
But, she is their spokesmuddle, and will try to laugh her way through when pressed.
Ask what the joke is. Today's America isn't a situation that I would think many Americans find funny.
Hammer over 3 years of consistent failure to secure borders, reduce crime, high inflation, doubled gas prices, increased costs of other energy, things which hit Americans where they really feel it--in the wallet, and don't stop--and put the blame where it belongs.
That's the choice.
