Former President Donald Trump said Thursday that the top civilian honor was better than the top military honor because those recipients are in 'very bad shape' or deceased.

He made the comments at an antisemitism event at his Bedminster, New Jersey resort, where he lauded Miriam Adelson, the widow of casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, who long bankrolled Republican political campaigns.

Trump reminded the audience how he had presented Miriam Adelson with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2018, mispeaking and saying it's equivalent to the 'Congressional Medal of Honor.'

The highest military decoration is simply referred to as the Medal of Honor.

'It's actually much better,' Trump commented. 'Because everyone gets the Congressional Medal of Honor, they're soldiers. They're either in very bad shape because they've been hit so many times by bullets or they're dead.'

 'She gets it,' Trump continued. 'And she's a healthy, beautiful woman.'

Why the hell would  he say such a stupid thing?  Is he trying to lose?   This is even worse than not wanting to go to an American military cemetery in Europe calling them "suckers and loosers", which up until now I wasn't sure if that was a factual comment or a hoax.   

If indeed he said this expect the Left to slap it onto campaign ads.

Now if he said he'd rather present Civilian medals because too many military medals a President presents involved pain and suffering and even death by the person earning it. I can understand that and get it.  I hope that is what he meant, but it just came out horribly wrong.    But even so, what is said is said.   Damn.

If you listen to Trump, he FREQUENTLY says dumb, stupid things.  More than anyone I ever knew to be exact.

Someone needs to quit being a yes man and tell him to stop adlibbing with his addresses.  All his speeches should be scripted, and he should not be permitted to go off script.  PERIOD!!!

Every time he opens his mouth, he loses votes with his idiocy.  His harangue of Gov Brian Kemp cost him thousands of votes in Georgia, a state that he needs to win.  Utter idiocy!  And that ran on for like 20 minutes.  Ugghh!!!!

Watched the video clip, it did sound worse in the transcript than it did live because he was just rambling on, but still he said it. We'll see if the mainstream media picks up on it.    Like others said he needs to stay with his prepared speech on the teleprompter and don't even veer off it to sneeze

Trump is starting to show his age. Aging is unavoidable. And we’re going see more of these type of errors the more he speaks

So this carp again? It's  not allowed to legitimately criticize the Orange one when he says/does completely asinine things and if we don't vote for him we are. Voting for the communist? Why are you even bitching, haven't we been told that those who will not genuflect at the Altar of Orange are neither needed or wanted?

Fortunately since I live  in California and there is no way in he'll Trump can win here I don't have to choke on voting for him and will vote down ballot where I may actually have a chance at improving things.

For some people, it is entirely possible to go off script without making mind-numbingly stupid statements.  Unfortunately, Trump does not appear to be one of those people.

And if the mainstream media has the choice to replay an extemporaneous clip that makes Trump look good, or one that makes him look ridiculous, which do you suppose they are going to play?

When they do that, he has no right to complain because they are simply replaying words that he actually spoke.
