UAW files labor charges against Trump and Musk, alleging worker intimidation

.

The United Auto Workers filed federal labor charges against former President Donald Trump and Elon Musk on Tuesday following an interview on X in which Trump discussed firing employees who go on strike.

During the conversation, whose start was delayed due to technical difficulties, Trump and Musk “advocated for the illegal firing of striking workers,” the UAW, which has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris’s bid for president, wrote in a statement.

“I mean, I look at what you do,” Trump told Musk, who owns several companies, including SpaceX and Tesla. “You walk in, you say, ‘You want to quit?’ They go on strike. I won’t mention the name of the company, but they go on strike, and you say, ‘That’s OK. You’re all gone. You’re all gone. So, every one of you is gone.'”

According to the National Labor Relations Act, workers cannot be fired for going on strike, the UAW noted.

“When we say Donald Trump is a scab, this is what we mean. When we say Trump stands against everything our union stands for, this is what we mean,” UAW President Shawn Fain said in a statement.

“Both Trump and Musk want working-class people to sit down and shut up, and they laugh about it openly. It’s disgusting, illegal, and totally predictable from these two clowns,” Fain added.

The Washington Examiner reached out to spokespeople for Trump and X for comment.

Unions lost their revelancy in about 1950.

I used to feel so sorry to the rank and file at the plant who never came out ahead after a strike.
I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

Unions are part of the reason why a lot of companies fled overseas

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

  • Well EXCUSE me!
Did I miss the part where Trump or Musk actually said they would fire strikers? I guess the union had no problem when Captain Dementia blew up at a union worker and told the the guy he worked for him.

This is odd. So I guess a person can't say what they think anymore without a lawsuit???

This isn't England...is it?

If the Democrats have their way it'll be a crime to oppose their narrative.

IIRC, Reagan fired the Air Traffic Controllers who went on strike.

I did not hear Trump specifically mention firing anyone except in an historical context.

But the unions and Democrats have been bedfellows for a long time.

It's a big nothing.  Lost wages are the only thing you can recover if you are fired for Union activity, and since nobody was fired, there are no damages. All they could possibly obtain from this Charge  is what is called a cease and desist order, which basically means nothing.

It's just grandstanding.

Yep. The Democrats are all-in, and it's just one more turd aimed at the punchbowl.

I feel the exact same way!  I was a GM man, but when Obama disenfranchised the GM stockholders and bond holders and turned ownership of the company over to the union, I said f*** them and the horse they rode in on.

But Trump's comments with Musk if he said this about unions is pure idiocy, the stuff that results in LOST ELECTIONS.  Don't think for a  moment Clinton didn't lose because of her basket of deplorables, or Mitt Romney making the comment about 47% who are with him, who are dependent on government, who believe they are victims didn't lose because of it.

When running for public office, the very last thing a candidate should ever do is say or write something to alienate some segment of the electorate.  Trump has a penchant for it, like his harangue at one of his rallies here in Georgia recently about Gov Brian Kemp.  There are people here in Georgia that will now NOT VOTE FOR TRUMP, because they like Kemp.  How stupid is that, his personal attacks on people?  Frankly I am sick of it!!!

Calling a spade a shovel is something Trump does that I find refreshing and admirable. I wish we had many more doing the same. Kemp is a turd in the punch bowl (both he and Raffensberger are very much on the Dominion payroll) and I'm glad Trump called him out. @jafo2010

I disagree.  Trump shoots his mouth off entirely too much, alienating people every time he does it.  He has great capability, does he need to denigrate everyone in his path?  Really?

He praises POSs like Putin and the leader of North Korea.  He just can't sing their praises high enough.  Enough of the bullsh*t.  He says dumb things, says them frequently.  I know he is not a politician, but if he EVER wants to be POTUS, and have a Congress that would EVER work with him, how does he accomplish that by sh*ting on everyone?  Everything he did in his first term was done by EO.  You want that nonsense again, and you think that is good?  I don't.  I want him to be a leader of men, and I know he has the capability, but not by dumping on everyone in his path.

The Trump Campaign should file an FEC complaint about this in-kind contribution to the Kammie & Timmie Campaign. LIEden's FEC won't give it serious investigation and consideration, but it forces the UAW to spend $$ responding, and if Trump is elected POTUS, the FEC might actually act meaningfully.
