USAToday/Suffolk: Trump ahead by 5 in Florida

Latest Harris-Trump poll highlights danger for former president in Florida

The red wave that washed over Florida in recent years might not be as large as it once seemed, if a new presidential survey is any indication.

Vice President Kamala Harris is within “striking distance” of former President Donald Trump in Florida, according to the pollster behind a new USA TODAY/Suffolk University/WSVN-TV survey of 500 likely voters released Tuesday.

Trump leads Harris by five percentage points in the survey, but that’s closer than other recent polls and much less than Gov. Ron DeSantis’ 19-point blowout in 2022. It’s also within the poll’s 4.4% margin of error, and another sign of the enthusiasm Harris has generated nationwide within the Democratic Party since she entered the race

This is believable, when considering the Dade County poll with him losing by 14.  If Trump continues his polling collapse, it will make the senate race interesting as well.

I don’t think Trump will lose Florida. But  if those urban areas come out for Harris like they did for Obama, he could lose it
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Y'all are forgetting the influx of people from blue states, here.
They run away from blue state policies, and then vote for the same stuff.

Hmmm.  Didn't DeSantis win Dade County?

Yes, and Romney lost the state unexpectedly, because he got trounced in Dade.  So it’s something to keep an eye on.

A new poll is out which has Kamala within 3 points overall.  If Florida is competitive in 2024, after republicans netted a million pandemic voters, then Trump ain’t getting 270.

Didn’t he take Florida in 2020 without Miami Dade?

Yes, but Biden only won the county by 7 points.  The hispanic precincts across the state are prone to wild swings (30 points or more).

Is Trump polling  better, worse, or similar than he did this time in 2020?

Several points better this time, albeit trending badly.  Obama outperformed the polling due to enthusiasm in the urban areas.  Hillary and Biden did not, but Kamala??  And we still don't know if the democrats will bother spending money in FL when they could kneecap Trump in GA, NC, AZ.
