We Need a Badass in the White House

Establishment Republicans would rather lose with honor and dignity than get their hands dirty and their noses bloodied in a street fight.

Politics ain’t beanbag, as the expression goes, except to genteel Republicans who prefer the wimp approach of giving a pleasant concession speech as opposed to taking the badass approach and punching back twice as hard when attacked.''


Greg Gutfield, one of the few remaining conservative voices on Fox News, made the case for Donald Trump on his recent show.

Watch or allow me to paraphrase:



    When you are watching vintage Trump, you have to realize this is how he is going to be in meetings with people who are not friendly to the United States.

    He is not a figurehead, he’s an agent, he’s your agent, he’s America’s lawyer. He’s in the room to represent his client, America. Your needs and your concerns. He’s supposed to be an bleep. He’s not interested in impressing the other people in the room.

    I want an agent or a lawyer with that relentless energy that makes people upset. And the country needs that.

    This guy is going to be that way in a room with people that have been screwing us over. You want the guy that nobody likes because they don’t like him for a reason.

I am sooo tired of this particularly bogus Trumpian theme.

Elections are about winning the most votes, not about entertaining your most committed supporters by showing how "tough" or crude you can be.

And the whole "street fight" and "bloodied noses" imagery is a damn joke.  Trump isn't fighting anyone.  It's just...words, and words aren't what make somebody "tough" or a "badass".

Not true.  For Trump, everything is personal.  He's nice to people who flatter him, and nasty towards those he believes fail to show him the respect he believes is his due.  Whether or not they are friendly to the U.S. is irrelevant.  It's why he's been so pleasant to people like Kim Jong Un and Putin.

Same goes for domestic politics - it's all personal.  That's why he said Stacey Abrams would be a better governor than Kemp, and why he trashed DeSantis in comparison to Gillum.  And he flat out admitted he didn't criticize Gavin Newsome - because "he's said very nice things about me."

I want a president who puts national interests before his personal interests, not the other way around

I agree with your post completely. However I will vote for Trump because the opposing team  is scary.It makes me mad that that these are the choices...but there it is.

I don't blame you - I get reluctant Trump supporters.  I'm still leaning towards leaving it blank but may end up voting for Trump.  I just feel like voting for him is ratifying what he has done to the GOP, and I can't stomach that.  But Harris is horrible.

It may come down to something as petty as which group of supporters annoy me the least.  My state - Ohio - is voting for Trump anyway so it doesn't matter.  Maybe I'll just tell Harris supporters I voted for Trump, and tell Trump supporters I abstained.  Win/win in terms of pissing off the right people!

Her record sucks and she will be the most progressive president this country has ever seen

But she definitely has Trump and his supporters all discombobulated  and in a state of confusion even if they won’t admit it. So that’s a positive in her favor

It’s what it is. Republicans will have to decide what kind of party it wants to be during the Harris presidency. If they don’t figure it out, she could easily become a two term president

Trump's biggest problem are his flunkies pissing in the pool.   And half of them were pre-memed as Jimbo and Ned on Southpark. Like I've previously said....   When I see a Red Hat, I steer clear.

We don't need a bad ass...  We need a "hinged" fiscal conservative, who has the ability to move the needle back to sanity.

Oh, those of us who didn’t vote for him will get blamed because we didn’t prostrate ourselves before the throne of Donald Trump. They’ll blame us, the media, he was robbed, RINOs, ect ect but they’ll never hold Trump himself accountable for his upcoming loss

Never mind that many of us warned that Donald Trump was a serial election loser and so disgusted were  the voters with their choice of Trump or Biden that whichever party would replaced their candidate, that person would go to the White House.


While Trump was running against the hospice patient, he was winning by default. But now that’s been taken away from him and he has to face a more eager and motivated opponent and he can’t handle that

If/when he loses, those who renominated him will be the ones to blame. That, and  their base has gone much further to the left and won’t tolerate moderation. They don’t worry so much about  the votes of independent voters because they know not enough of them will go to Donald Trump to make a difference, if any. Nobody believes that Donald Trump is going to do as well or better than Mitt Romney did amongst independent voters in 2012




Is it hopeless for Republicans? Not at all. Ron DeSantis won  traditionally blue areas of Florida, for example. So there is evidence that Republicans can be at least competitive in the blue parts of the country. And there are blue states and purple states with Republican governors. Vermont has a Republican governor despite sending communist Bernie back to the Senate

But stopping up and down and crying, “we wuz robbed” is not the way back on that path. Yes, we could use some improvement on how we conduct elections. But you have to win them first to fix the problems

Harris hasn’t gotten the Obama coalition totally behind her yet. She will after the convention. If/when she does, then this election is over on the presidential end

I will be the first to admit that I did underestimate her. I thought she might flop by the first week or two
