Washington Turns a Blind Eye to Exploited Migrant Children, While their Tormentors Cash In
July 24, 2024
On July 17, the Biden-Harris administration’s Department of Justice filed a suit against its largest private housing provider for unaccompanied alien children (UAC) in the United States, alleging that the company, Southwest Key, subjected children to repeated and unwelcome sexual abuse, harassment, rape, solicitation of sex acts, and more. The complaint claims the abuse started in 2015, if not earlier, until at least through 2023. The sad news is that the government continues to use and pay the company today, housing thousands of children who are surging the border under this administration’s willful and watchful eye.
The complaint lays out the allegations, saying the aggrieved children range in age from 5 to 18 years old. It presents the documented nature and scope of harassment, and provides examples in which employers sexually abused and threatened children. It claims that the incidents described are only some of over one hundred reports lodged against employees and the company.
From at least 2015 through at least 2023, multiple Southwest Key employees have subjected unaccompanied children in their care to repeated and unwelcome sexual abuse, harassment, and misconduct and a hostile housing environment, including severe sexual abuse and rape, solicitation of sex acts, solicitation of nude photos, entreaties for sexually inappropriate relationships, sexual comments and gestures, leering, and inappropriate touching. In some cases, Southwest Key employees threatened children to maintain their silence.
