Biden releases post-RNC statement claiming Trump wants to “ gut the checks and balances of our constitution and rule as a dictator on day one.”
We must keep in mind that the people who write for Biden, as well as those handling social media for the administration and the campaign, are mostly 23-year-old holders of B.A. degrees in subjects like Lesbian Literature of 17th-Century Finland.

Biden:  "[Trump] wants to gut the checks and balances of our Constitution and rule as a dictator on day one"

This coming from the person who is pushing for term limits on Supreme Court Justices.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.     -Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."     -Ayn Rand-

I really wanted to watch Trump's speech, so I turned on the TV only to see Hulk Hogan ripping off his shirt, then Eric Trump bore the crap out of me, then Kid Rock doing...something.  and the latter two were going on after Trump's scheduled start time of 10:00 p.m..  As the kids would say, that's a lot of cringe.

I hope the speech made up for it.  But seriously, couldn't they just have skipped that stuff?

None of that is Trump's fault, so I'm not blaming him.

I'll admit that Hulk Hogan and wrestling in general is not my thing. But they have a HUGE following (go figure). I'll admit that I'm not a Kid Rock fan although he does some decent music. He also has a huge following.

They appeal to a younger crowd. That's not a bad thing. If we don't get a younger crowd...we are going to go away. Heck, my parents didn't care for my musical tastes or entertainment either. Sort of like the chick with the face tatts. Again...not my thing but younger people don't think a thing about it. I know a lot of younger people that a swinging more conservative.

Watching The Five on Fox News.  Jessica Tarlick, the single Dem on the panel, I never agree with anything she says, but she just complained about Trump's 92 minutes speech at the convention, and she indicated people started filing out.  She said she was on the floor and watched people leave.  Well, I agree with her.  His speech was monotone, and bordering on boring...

I FELL ASLEEP!!!!  Yawn!!!

The convention was one of the best I have ever seen.  Truly interesting all week, but Trump's speech gets a D- for quality, organization, and defining what he intends to do.  That speech should have spelled out, 1, 2, 3 what he intends to do for the American people.  A truly poor speech.

All he did was provide ammo for the idiots in the media that hate him completely.

Clearly, no one instructed Trump on K.I.S.S. when he was younger.

I didn't know Trump's speech was so long, because I conked out at 11 p.m. Eastern time and went to bed (hadn't gotten more than 2-3 hours sleep the night before). Yep, probably should have been more concise. My opinion is that just as no meeting should exceed 60 minutes, so should no speech go longer than 40.

On CNN: "The Republican Party, after one week, is still the party of fun, and the 'Party of Democracy' is down the street plotting a political coup against a sitting President of the United States."

I think Kid Rock and Hulk Hogan appealed to younger people maybe 20 years ago.  Now they appeal to older people who don't realize they are past their sell-by dates.

For the first time since the time Trump began campaigning I was not impressed and turned off the TV and didn't listen to the entire speech.  I excuse it because there was just an assassination attempt on his life.  That has to weigh mentally on him.

Like it or not.  He is aging.  Being accused of collusion, going through impeachments and then being drug through court along with the duties of the presidency and being shot has taken it's toll on him. How can it not??

To me he was more soft spoken; he has been weakened.  Then man is 78 years old. God Bless him and our country.

I’m stuck at home with COVID, so I had the distinct misfortune of watching Donald Trump’s speech to the RNC.
What the hell was he talking about?

This one pegged out the irony meter......    But who can expect someone cognizantly dead who can't say a coherent sentence....  understand one?

@Right_in_Virginia   I went back and finished the speech -- lengthy, and I still think in comparison to some of his speeches the content was there, the sincerity was there, the patriotism was there but his voice was weakened. Stress may have played a factor (gee do ya think).  At any rate...I pray and hope he's re-elected so he can get 'er done!   happy77 :patriot: :patriot:

God Bless President Trump and continue to keep him and his family safe and God Bless America.
