'Free ID Cards': Migrants Flood New York's System

The IDNYC program
The number of New Yorkers, including migrants, obtaining citywide ID cards has increased in the current fiscal year.
 
The IDNYC program, launched by former Mayor Bill de Blasio in 2015, is recognized as the largest and most successful municipal ID initiative in the country.
 

Free ID cards
 
This program provides free ID cards to all city residents, irrespective of their immigration status, with eligibility starting from age 10. Applicants must demonstrate proof of identity and residency in New York City.
