Democrats roll out $100 million plan to win back the House on abortion rights

The House Majority PAC is rolling out a $100 million campaign to bring back a Democratic majority in the House of Representatives this November by focusing on abortion.
While the PAC’s Reproductive Freedom Accountability Fund will be allocated to motivating voter turnout in swing districts, the fund will also be directed toward House districts without competitive presidential or Senate races, including in New York, California, Oregon, Washington, and Virginia.
In a memo released Wednesday, a PAC spokesperson said “the success of ballot measures in deep-red Kansas to blue states with local abortion protections – and the February special election in NY-03” proves abortion rights are a winning issue going into the November election.
Access to abortion and birth control has been in the spotlight after Roe v. Wade was overturned in June 2022, removing federal protections for abortion. Lauded by the GOP as a victory for human life, the battle over abortion rights has returned to the states. The Democratic Party has used the issue to motivate voters to head to the polls this election. Abortion rights are on the ballot across the country, including in swing states such as Arizona and Nevada.
The Congressional Leadership Fund is a major super PAC that supports Republicans, and it has pumped $22 million in New York House races alone to defend 2022 GOP gains. The CLF responded to its rival’s announcement Wednesday.
“With voters rejecting Democrats on just about every issue under the sun, this is their sole strategy,” CLF President Dan Conston told the Washington Examiner.
