What do we know so far?

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps said it had launched dozens of drones and missiles at Israel.

Iran has vowed retaliation for what it called an Israeli strike on its Damascus consulate on April 1 that killed seven Revolutionary Guards officers.

U.S. and British warplanes were involved in shooting down some Israel-bound drones over the Iraq-Syria border area, Channel 12 reported.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has convened the war cabinet at a military headquarters in Tel Aviv, his office said.

The European Union, Britain, France, Mexico, Czechia, Denmark and the Netherlands have all condemned Iran's attack.

On Saturday’s “CNN Newsroom,” House Armed Services Committee Ranking Member Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA) stated that he believes the Biden administration will advise Israel that “they should look to de-escalate across the board where possible.” Smith also argued that the Iranian attack on Israel “underscores the need to get to a ceasefire in Gaza, to get humanitarian assistance into Gaza, and to have an endpoint to that conflict, completely admitting Israel’s right to defend itself there, without question. But things need to calm down or Israel is vulnerable in the region.”

Smith said that the Iranian attack seems to be a “one-off.”

Host Alex Marquardt then asked, “Congressman, what do you think the messaging is from the Biden administration to Israel in terms of a response? Is it, to some extent, you knew this was coming, if it’s not too bad, you just take it on the chin, or will the U.S. be okay with Israel, say, carrying out a response against Iran proper?”

Smith responded, “Well, I think the message to Israel is not take it on the chin, you’ll be okay, it’s what is in your long-term best interests here? Israel is sitting in the middle of a very dangerous neighborhood, with Iran and Hezbollah and Hamas, among others, threatening them. Do they want to go all-in on a conflict? I would say no, and I think the Biden administration will be advising them no  .  .  .

All I'm seeing is that Iranians are rushing to get their auto fuel tanks topped off.

This isn't a 1950's episode of a 60 minute television show where the bad guys get what's coming to them.

Not with FJB sitting at the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office...excuse me ....in his beach chair.

Realize it's only 7:30 AM right now in Tel Aviv, but let's hope Iran regrets this disproportionate Israel attack as you suggest.

The Middle East does not know what a "proportional attack" is. If you live in this neighborhood 'proportional' is not the word you use.

Biden tells Iran not to launch an attack. They do it anyways with unprecedented firepower. Biden responds by demanding Israel not retaliate and leaks it to the press as a signal to certain voters.
If that’s not a perfect encapsulation of this admin’s FP, I don’t know what is.

Catching up now after Shabbat. Obviously missed a lot. Here are my quick takeaways:

1) Iran’s attack against Israel — 200+ drones, cruise and ballistic missiles — more aggressive and pervasive than expected.

2) Israel’s response so far has been magnificent — intercepting 99% of the incoming.

3) Lots of help provided by USA, UK, France and even Jordan. We are grateful.

4) Iran literally attacked the Al Aqsa Mosque. Had Israel not intercepted the missile, 3rd holiest site in Islam destroyed.

5) This is the time for Israel, the West and the moderate Sunni nations to unite against this evil, terrorist nation.

The New York Times is reporting that the Iranian attack on Israel involved 185 drones, 110 surface-to-surface missiles, and 36 cruise missiles, which were launched from Iran, Iraq and Yemen.

The Spokesman of the Israel Defense Force, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari has made a Statement reporting that 99% of the Threats that were launched tonight against Israel by Iran were Intercepted which is a Very Significant Strategic Achievement; he further states that out of 170 One-Way “Suicide” Drone and 30 Land-Attack Cruise Missiles launched by Iran, 0 were able to enter Israeli Airspace and 25 of the Cruise Missiles were Downed by the Israeli Air Force. Alongside that, of the 120 Medium-Range Ballistic Missiles only a few Impacted the Territory of Israel having Struck the Area of Nevatim Airbase in the Negev Desert causing Minor Damage to Infrastructure; however despite the Damage, the Base is still Operational and Preparing to receive the 3 Squadron of F-35Is that are Stationed at the Base and have been Airborne tonight conducting Interceptions.

Biden calling for G7 meeting in response to Iran's 'brazen' attack

The IDF said Saturday that Iran has launched drones and ballistic missiles toward Israel weeks after a deadly strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria.

President Biden's administration is reportedly advising Israel that it may not have to retaliate against Iran thanks to its overwhelming success in intercepting the roughly 300 missiles and drones launched by Tehran on Saturday.

Biden's team says the successful interceptions were a major victory for Israel and sent a message to Iran and other regional adversaries, the New York Times reported Sunday.

Biden spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shortly after Iran's assault on Saturday, assuring him that Israel had the full support of the U.S. The administration will also convene a meeting with G7 leaders on Sunday.

"Israel demonstrated a remarkable capacity to defend against and defeat even unprecedented attacks--sending a clear message to its foes that they cannot effectively threaten the security of Israel," Biden said, adding that U.S. forces had helped Israel intercept "nearly all" Iran's projectiles.

"While we have not seen attacks on our forces or facilities today, we will remain vigilant to all threats and will not hesitate to take all necessary action to protect our people," he continued.

    US Congressional sources say the amphibious war ship Bataan is leading a US naval task force in the Eastern Mediterranean
    The Bataan has two support ships and together they have about 2,500 Marines onboard, with guided missile destroyers already in the area
