Les Nessman pronouncing his name as "Chy Chy Rod-ri-gweeze" was the 1st thing that came to mind reading the news.

You don’t become cooler with age but you do care progressively less about being cool, which is the only true way to actually be cool.

Actress Gena Rowlands, whose work in the early days of live TV anthologies led to a long career in film, dies at 94

Among one of her best-known later works was as an Alzheimer's patient in The Notebook, which would prove tragically coincidental to her own death.

Bay Area rock icon Greg Kihn passes away at 75

https://www.kron4.com/news/bay-area/bay-area-rock-icon-greg-kihn-passes-away-at-75/

Quote
(KRON) — Bay Area rock icon Greg Kihn has passed away at 75, according to a blog post on his official website. Kihn, who was born in Baltimore, Maryland, but made his name as a key figure in the San Francisco Bay Area music scene, lost his battle with Alzheimer’s disease earlier this week.

Known for his distinct songwriting style that blended folk, classic rock, blues and pop, Kihn scored a string of hits in the early 1980s with “The Breakup Song,” “Remember,” and “Lucky.” He is best remembered, however, for his 1983 smash “Jeopardy.” The song was Kihn’s only Top 10 hit, reaching number 2 in May of 1983, just behind Michael Jackson’s “Beat It.”

Peter Marshall, the Emmy Award-winning host of "Hollywood Squares," has died. He was 98.

Marshall died Thursday of kidney failure at his home in Los Angeles, his publicist Harlan Boll said in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital.  ...

Born in Huntington, West Virginia, on March 30, 1926, Marshall kick-started his career in show business as a teenager, landing a job as an NBC Radio page and an usher at Paramount Theater in New York City. After his high school graduation, Marshall was drafted into the Army in 1944 and began work as a disc jockey for Armed Forces Radio.

By the late 1940s, Marshall and comedian and film producer Tommy Noonan began performing regularly in major nightclubs and theaters throughout the country. After starring in multiple films in the '60s, Marshall's first starring role on Broadway was in "Skyscraper" alongside Julie Harris in 1965.  ...

Famous Amos Cookies Founder Wally Amos Dies At 88

Quote
Wallace “Wally” Amos, the founder of the beloved Famous Amos cookies brand, has passed away after a battle with dementia. The man who satisfied a million sweet teeth was 88 years-old.

Amos Passes Away
Two of his four children confirmed to the New York Times that Amos died on August 13 at his home in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was also survived by his wife Christine Harris Amos, who he was married to for 45 years.

“With his Panama hat, kazoo, and boundless optimism, Famous Amos was a great American success story, and a source of Black pride,” his children told Yahoo News.

I'm not sure blacktivists celebrated Amos' success, since that success kind of contradicts the "Whitey will keep you down" narrative".

We hired Amos back in the '90's for a safety/efficency motivational speaker session.  Talk about an inspiration of how "not to give up".  Great guy...

What a horrible way to go, and so relatively young. I knew nothing of Russell's music, but feel bad for those who cared about him.

It's been tough on Great White since that fire at a bar they were performing for.

I think that was a different fire, much more recent.

Yes, the club was in Rhode Island. I think a hundred people died in that fire. I'd imagine the band carried that weight, I think the band's agent or the promoter actually got jail time and actually plead guilty.

He seemed to be a better balanced interviewer.
I fondly remember watching Marlo Thomas in "That Girl", too.
(I didn't know they were married. )

I remember SNL making fun of that thing he would do on his show... "Are you there caller?" as he points his microphone towards the ceiling.

My mom watched him in the 80's.

Edit: His show ran until 1996. I had no idea.

Talk show legend Phil Donahue dead at 88

Good riddance. Watching the news this morning the recap of Donahue's talk show featured his activism in favor of cross dressing, early childhood sex education (grooming), abortion, socialism, anti-Americanism, nuclear freeze (unilateral American disarmament), homosexuality, lesbianism, unchecked immigration, confiscatory taxation, gun control including gun bans, socialized healthcare, banning home schooling, etc.

He was a very destructive man and he made the world a better place by leaving it.
