Joseph S. Bonsall (76) of Hendersonville, Tennessee passed on to Glory on July 9, 2024, from complications of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. He leaves behind his precious wife, Mary Ann, daughters Jennifer and Sabrina, granddaughter Breanne, grandson Luke, two great grandsons, Chance and Grey, and a sister, Nancy. He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph S. Bonsall Sr. and Lillie Bonsall.

As a 50-year member of the American music group The Oak Ridge Boys, Joe was a member of the Grand Ole Opry and inducted into the Philadelphia Music Hall of Fame, the Gospel Music Hall of Fame, the Vocal Group Hall of Fame, and the prestigious Country Music Hall of Fame.

ALS is a slow way of dying. His death was probably a bittersweet release.
I am not and never have been a leftist.

If, as anti-Covid-vaxxers claim, https://www.poynter.org/fact-checking/2021/robert-f-kennedy-jr-said-the-covid-19-vaccine-is-the-deadliest-vaccine-ever-made-thats-not-true/ , https://gospelnewsnetwork.org/2021/11/23/covid-shots-are-the-deadliest-vaccines-in-medical-history/ , The Vaccine is deadly, where in the US have Pfizer and Moderna hidden the millions of bodies of those who died of "vaccine injury"?

Millions now living should have died. Anti-Covid-Vaxxer ghouls hardest hit.

I agree.
You're everywhere I go, I am not alone
You call me as Your own to know You and be known.
You are holy!
And I fall down on my knees.
I can feel Your presence here with me.
Suddenly I'm lost within Your beauty,
Caught up in the wonder of Your touch.
Here in this moment I surrender to Your love.

The first concert I ever saw was the Oak Ridge Boys.  RIP, glad you're free of ALS.

I enjoyed reading Joe Bonsall's tweets. Seemed like a great guy.
My mother had a neighbor with ALS. His decline was hard to watch.  :crying:

Back when Teddy the Snorkel died I was a Mod on a now-defunct discussion site. Along with other Mods we very quickly asked folks to stay classy in discussing his death. Following MSM crap like this, I'm not sure, were I a Mod somewhere, I would do the same. I won't be @#$%%ing on Biden's or Pelosi's or etc.'s grave when their time comes, but I would leave to others to choose their level of class.

Benji Gregory, former child star on the 80s sitcom 'ALF,' dies at 46

Quote

PHOENIX -- Former child actor Benji Gregory, who played the young boy on the 1980s television sitcom “ALF,” has died in suburban Phoenix. He was 46.

Gregory, whose legal name was Benjamin Gregory Hertzberg, died on June 13, according to records from the Maricopa County Office of the Medical Examiner. The cause of his death is pending.

Gregory's sister, Rebecca Pfaffinger, told The New York Times that her brother's body was found in his car in the parking lot of a bank in Peoria, outside Phoenix. He apparently had gone there to deposit some residual checks, she said. His dog Hans also died in the vehicle.

Dave Loggins, Kenny's cousin who hit it big with "Please Come to Boston," dies at 76

Though "Please Come to Boston" was his biggest solo hit, Loggins was also a prolific songwriter (including CBS's theme for The Masters golf tournament) and had a comeback as Anne Murray's duet partner on "Nobody Does It Like You Do," even as Loggins didn't have a recording contract by then.

Ruth Westheimer, sex therapist known to millions as ‘Dr. Ruth,’ dies at 96

Quote

Ruth Westheimer, a child survivor of the Holocaust who became known to millions as Dr. Ruth, the perky sex therapist whose frankness on her long-running radio and television call-in shows made her a go-to guide for tips on the art and science of lovemaking, died July 12 at her home in Manhattan. She was 96.

The death was confirmed by Pierre Lehu, a publicist and her co-author on several books, but no cause was noted.

Described as the first superstar sex therapist, Dr. Westheimer was over 50 when she debuted in 1980 on New York’s WYNY with “Sexually Speaking.” The radio program initially aired in 15-minute installments and was later syndicated and extended to two hours to accommodate the onslaught of queries she received from callers. More than a few listeners professed that she had saved their marriages.

That makes me sad.  People loved to make fun of him, but there is no question that he was a voice of compassion to obese people who needed help.  He didn’t make fun of their struggles, but rather reached out to meet them where they were.

Also, even as a fit 20-something, those Oldies videos were just kind of fun.

Bob Newhart, Dean of the Deadpan Delivery, Dies at 94

Quote

Bob Newhart, the beloved stand-up performer whose droll, deadpan humor showcased on two critically acclaimed CBS sitcoms vaulted him into the ranks of history’s greatest comedians, died Thursday morning. He was 94.

The Chicago legend, who won Grammy Awards for album of the year and best new artist for his 1960 breakthrough record, The Button-Down Mind of Bob Newhart, died at his Los Angeles home after a series of short illnesses, his longtime publicist, Jerry Digney, announced.

The former accountant famously went without an Emmy Award until 2013, when he finally was given one for guest-starring as Arthur Jeffries (alias Professor Proton, former host of a children’s science show) on CBS’ The Big Bang Theory.

It's so sad to see the comedians of Bob's era leave us. I can't stand the foul-mouth stuff that passes for comedy these days. I'm thankful that we have videos to remind us of those days, but that's just a brief respite from this coarse, vulgar era.

Bob Newhart was one of the funniest people I have ever seen. I have missed his dry humor.

RIP Bob from berdie and your other fan berdie.

Rest in peace Mr. Dobbs! You more than earned it!

I liked Lou Dobbs. Seemed like a bright standup guy.

I hate to hear that Bob died, even though he was in his 90s.  Loved his show growing up as a kid in the 1970s.

Bob Newhart, legendary comedian, dead at 94

https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/18/entertainment/bob-newhart-death/index.html

Quote
Bob Newhart, whose stammering, deadpan unflappability carried him to stardom as a standup comedian and later in television and movies, has died, according to a statement from his longtime publicist Jerry Digney. He was 94.

Digney said Newhart died in Los Angeles on Thursday morning after a series of short illnesses. He called the star’s passing an “end of an era in comedy.”

Lou Dobbs was the only reason I ever watched anything on CNN, and later, his commentary on FOX was appreciated, too. RIP, sir.

Lou Dobbs was the only reason I ever watched anything on CNN, and later, his commentary on FOX was appreciated, too. RIP, sir.

CNN's report on Big Lou's passing is bitter and insulting.

Lou Dobbs, veteran cable news anchor and Trump booster, dies at 78

https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/18/media/lou-dobbs-dead/index.html

Quote
As Donald Trump ascended in Republican Party politics, Dobbs became one of his most ardent supporters, using his program to promote anti-immigrant rhetoric and lash out at the so-called “deep state.”

As one of Trump’s biggest boosters on television, the veteran anchor spent the latter part of his career promoting streams of misinformation and conspiracy theories on behalf of the then-president.

(snip)

After the 2020 election, Dobbs used his Fox Business program to repeatedly promote false conspiracy theories that the vote had been rigged by shadowy companies that flipped millions of votes from Trump to Joe Biden.
