Facing strong public pressure to have those abducted during Hamas' Oct. 7 attacks brought home, Israeli officials have long held that they would continue fighting until all of the estimated 136 remaining hostages are returned and Hamas is destroyed.

“We affirm that the enemy prisoners will not be returned alive to their families" unless Israel complies with the terror group's conditions, "the first of which is a comprehensive cessation of the aggression against Gaza," Hamas spokesperson Osama Hamdan said during a news conference in Beirut, according to the New York Times.

Whether Hamas actually intends to follow through on its remarks is unclear. The terror group has threatened to kill the remaining hostages in the past.

Yet, more than 100 hostages – women and children – were released during November's week-long ceasefire, even as Israeli attacks had continued throughout the fall.

This is absolutely true @DCPatriot   Years before the great influx we would actually discuss events, including Israel and the Middle East.  If memory serves, all those years ago I wasn't a fan of Netanyahu  --- and for many of the same reasons I'm still not today.
