As reports swirl that a deal may be in the offing, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his fellow war cabinet ministers met on Monday evening with the families of some 240 hostages being held by Hamas and other terror factions in the Gaza Strip since the October 7 atrocities across southern Israel.

The three-hour meeting was held at the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv, but initially devolved into chaotic scenes amid a dust-up with some of the families who were refused initial entry into the meeting.

The families said they provided a list of 107 representatives to the premier’s office ahead of time, but upon their arrival, many were told that there was not enough space in the auditorium that was reserved for the meeting for all of them to attend.

Some of the families waited outside in the cold for more than an hour. All the representatives were eventually allowed to attend.

Several family members left in the middle of the meeting, fuming over what they said were mixed messages the government has given them regarding the goals of the war.

"A few days ago, we met with [war cabinet ministers Benny] Gantz and [Gadi] Eisenkot. We heard from them in an unmistakable way that the overarching goal of the war is the return of the hostages,” Udi Goren, whose cousin is Gaza hostage Tal Haimi, told reporters after coming out of the meeting.

However, he said Netanyahu told the hostages’ families that the goal of destroying Hamas is on equal footing with that of returning the hostages, which infuriated those present, who feel that their loved ones are being allowed to remain in Gaza for more time, as a result.

"What we’ve heard is that taking down Hamas and bringing the hostages [home] are … equally important,” Goren said. “This is incredibly disappointing because … we know that taking down Hamas, we keep hearing from them [it] is going to take months or years and it’s going to take a long time.”

The mother of Avinatan Or, 30, decried reports of a potential deal that would only release some of the hostages, namely women and children.

“What I said inside is that whoever agrees now to a partial deal is murdering my son. He will not see the light of day. There will not be a second time,” Ditza Or told the Ynet news site.

After the meeting, Netanyahu stressed his commitment to securing the release of the hostages, calling it “a sacred and supreme mission.”

“We will not let up until they are returned, and this is the responsibility of me and the war cabinet,” he said in a statement.

EU’s top diplomat: Establishment of Palestinian state is best guarantee for Israeli security

BRUSSELS — EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell says the establishment of a Palestinian state would be the best way of ensuring Israel’s security.

Borrell held a video meeting Monday with foreign ministers from the EU’s 27 countries after touring the Middle East for talks on Israel’s war with Hamas.

The EU’s top diplomat says that he has drawn “a fundamental political conclusion” from his discussions across the region.

"I think that the best guarantee for Israel’s security is the creation of a Palestinian state,” Borrell says in a written summary of the EU meeting.

Borrell has insisted Israel should not occupy Gaza after the current conflict ends and that control of the territory should be handed over to the Palestinian Authority.

“Despite the huge challenges, we have to advance our reflections on the stabilization of Gaza and the future Palestinian state,” he says.

In the short-term, Borrell says, after visiting a string of Arab states, that there is a “sense of urgency” over the desperate humanitarian situation in Gaza.

The UN Security Council resolution calling for immediate humanitarian pauses is a big step forward, but we must ensure its rapid implementation,” the EU official says.

Another major fear is the possibility of the conflict further enflaming volatile situation in the West Bank and dragging in other actors in the Middle East.

“In light of increased extremists and settlers’ violence against Palestinians there is a real risk that the situation could escalate,” Borrell says.

“Reports of a ship hijacked by the Houthis are another worrying signal of a risk of the regional spill over.”

US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller is asked for Washington’s position regarding the potential for the IDF expanding its ground incursion into southern Gaza.

Miller says that before doing so, Israel will have to answer questions regarding how it will protect the civilians it told to flee south from northern Gaza.

“We do have concerns that concentrating all civilians in one area does leave them vulnerable to harm, and we are trying to work through [this] with the government of Israel,” Miller says.

Doesn't matter. The Palestinians will never agree to anything except the death of all Jews worldwide.
And even if they do agree, they will never follow through with any agreement. They agree but never do anything.
This has been the history of Muslims since the beginning. Agree to anything/everything and then just ignore it.
It is even written in their Korn. Lying to an Infidel is good. Agreements with Infidels are not binding.

Sen. Jeff Merkley became the second U.S. senator to call for a cease-fire, saying "after grimly witnessing accelerating body counts, many Americans, including thousands of Oregonians, have raised their voices to say more must be done to stop the carnage."

"I believe that Israel, in its understandable rage, is also making a massive mistake," Merkley warned. "By waging a war that generates a shocking level of civilian carnage rather than a targeted campaign against Hamas, Israel is burning through its reserves of international support. Here’s what we know about the status of the negotiations:

Talks are coalescing around a brief pause in fighting.
During the pause, hostages would be exchanged for Palestinian prisoners. Israeli officials said in recent days that negotiations centered around Hamas releasing 50 women and children held hostage in exchange for roughly the same number of Palestinian women and teenagers held in Israeli prisons — and pausing hostilities for several days. What Israel wants:

U.S. military forces in the Middle East have been attacked at least 64 times since October 17, a U.S. defense official told Fox News.

The official says that 30 of the attacks happened in Iraq, while the 34 other incidents happened in Syria. The attacks have been a mix of rockets and one-way drones.

The three latest attacks occurred at Bashur Airbase in Iraq, Mission Support Site Euphrates in Syria and al-Tanf Garrison in Syria. No service members were wounded by the attacks, and infrastructure was not damaged.

13 of the attacks have happened after the U.S. launched air strikes against militants in Syria on November 12.

A Wake Forest University professor has resigned after posting content on social media that defended Hamas’ violent terror attack against civilian music festival attendees in the early morning hours of October 7.

Dr. Laura Mullen, Kenan Chair of the Humanities, English & Creative Writing at Wake Forest University, "has resigned for personal reasons" and will continue teaching through the end of the semester, the university told The Wake Report. Mullen came under fire after she posted on X that she "could be tempted to shoot up your dance party," signaling she empathized with the Hamas terrorists that killed hundreds at the festival during the October 7 mass attack in southern Israel.

"So it’s kind of a Duh but if you turn me out of my house plow my olive groves under and confine what’s left of my family to the small impoverished state you run as an open air prison I could be tempted to shoot up your dance party yeah even knowing you will scorch the earth," Mullen wrote on X.

Mullen originally said her words were "raw, direct, [and] poetic, in that it involved imagery," but deleted the post after a week, explaining the university told her it "may be making things harder on the Muslim population," according to The Wake Report.

On October 17, the university issued a statement that "as a matter of principle," it affirmed "the right to individual freedom of expression," even if they "do not condone or support the views expressed in these posts." But, Mullen complained that Wake Forest threw her "out to the wolves" based on how they handled the situation, The Wake Report reported.

"[The University statement] is like if you watch animal films and you isolate one gazelle, that’s the one that gets eaten. They kind of threw me to the wolves," Mullen said.

This situation feels different.  I'm less convinced this agreement is actually between Israel and Hamas than it is between Arab countries ---- who are concerned about Israel's open-ended  war timetable, the fallout and creeping escalation in their neighborhood.

The Israel Defense Forces has seen a number of incidents of so-called “friendly fire” during fighting in the Gaza Strip, some of them with deadly results, The Times of Israel has learned, as Israeli troops engaged Monday in intense combat while pushing forward with the military campaign in the Hamas-ruled enclave.

There are currently thousands of infantry forces, tanks, and other troops in Gaza during Israel’s ground offensive against Hamas, operating in Gaza City’s dense neighborhoods.

The military has said it is constantly assessing the ongoing fighting, including the cases of friendly fire, and quickly implementing lessons learned.

Hamas leader Haniyeh says ‘we are close to reaching a truce agreement’

The chief of Hamas told Reuters on Tuesday that the Palestinian militant group was near a truce agreement with Israel.

Hamas officials are “close to reaching a truce agreement” with Israel and the group has delivered its response to Qatari mediators, Ismail Haniyeh said in a statement sent to Reuters by his aide.

US President Joe Biden said on Monday he believed an accord was near. “We’re closer now than we’ve been before,” White House spokesman John Kirby said of an agreement aimed at securing the release of some hostages held in Gaza and a pause in the fighting that would allow much needed aid into Gaza.

Two sources familiar with the truce talks have told AFP a tentative deal includes a five-day truce, comprised of a ceasefire on the ground and limits to Israeli air operations over southern Gaza.

In return, between 50 and 100 prisoners held by Hamas and Islamic Jihad – a separate Palestinian militant group – would be released.

They would include Israeli civilians and captives of other nationalities, but no military personnel.

The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian affairs reports that on Monday, “one Palestinian man died of wounds sustained after being shot by Israeli forces during a search-and-arrest operation in Jenin Refugee Camp on 9 November, bringing the death toll during that operation to 15, including four children.”

Israel’s raid on Jenin on 9 November is the deadliest West Bank since the second Palestinian intifada, or uprising, of the 2000s.

A member of a Maryland task force aimed at combating hate crimes published numerous antisemitic social media posts, including claiming that the babies brutally murdered in the Oct. 7 Hamas attack were "fake," and comparing the nation of Israel to Nazi Germany.

Zainab Chaudry, an anti-Israel activist who serves as the director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations' (CAIR) Maryland office, made the posts in the weeks following Hamas' attack, which saw more than 1,200 people killed, including children and babies, as well as numerous rapes and destruction of property.

"I will never be able to understand how the world summoned up rage for 40 fake Israeli babies while completely turning a blind eye to 3,000 real Palestinian babies," Chaudry wrote in a Facebook post dated Oct. 26.

Israel, Hamas cease-fire deal with hostage release is in final stages

Negotiations between Israel and Hamas for a potential cease-fire and hostage release are in their final stages, Fox News has learned.

The deal could include a potential hostage release as well as a temporary end to fighting to get humanitarian aid into the region.

"It does appear the final details are being discussed toward a cease-fire that would end fighting in Gaza for up to five days and include the release of some hostages," Fox News’ Trey Yingst reported from Israel Tuesday afternoon.

"We understand, according to Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, that a deal is approaching," Yingst reported. "Reports indicate it would include the release of dozens of Israeli and foreign citizen hostages. The hostages are expected to be only women and children and would be exchanged for [Palestinian] prisoners being held in Israel."

He said the hopeful news "comes amid intense battles in Gaza as Israeli forces work their way across the strip. The Israeli military said it targeted 250 different Hamas sites over the past day, killing dozens of militants."

Reuters similarly reported Hamas officials were "close to reaching a truce agreement" with Israel. They also cited a statement from Ismail Haniyeh.

 The Israel Prime Minister's Office says "In light of developments on the issue of the release of our hostages, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will, this evening, convene the War Cabinet at 18:00 [11 a.m. ET], the Security Cabinet at 19:00 [Noon E.T.], and the Government at 20:00 [1 p.m. ET]."

Fox News has been reporting this morning that negotiations between Israel and Hamas for a potential cease-fire and hostage release are in their final stages.

Foreign Correspondent Trey Yingst reported a short time ago that Israeli surveillance drones “would have to stop hovering over the northern part of Gaza for at least six hours a day” as part of a possible deal.

Yingst also said three Palestinian prisoners would be released from Israel in exchange for every hostage that Hamas sends back the other way.

There are around 240 people believed to be held captive by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Maybe Merkley should be asking why Hamas uses hospitals and schools for bases of operation? Otherwise known as a war crime. The whole purpose is to cause civilian casualties. All of the death and destruction lands squarely in Hamas' lap.

Well, there is a flip side. Israel likely has Gaza sealed off so Hamas cannot escape during that time. If most the hostages are recovered it allows Israel to reengage with far less restraint in the tunnels due to fearing the killing of hostages.

Israel's war cabinet meeting at 11 a.m. about hostage negotiations; other back-to-back meetings right after: PM's office

Israel’s war cabinet is meeting on Tuesday, at 11 a.m. EST, regarding the latest developments in a hostage negotiation deal that could be reached as early as today.

Following the war cabinet meeting, Israel’s security cabinet will hold its own meeting, with a full cabinet meeting being held right afterwards, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.

“We are making progress. I don’t think it’s worth saying more, even at this moment, but I hope there will be good news soon,” Netanyahu told reporters.

It comes following reports that Israel and Hamas were close to a deal that would see 50 hostages released from Gaza in exchange for a multi-day ceasefire and the freedom of several Palestinian prisoners in the Jewish State.

US kills multiple militants after latest attack on base in Iraq

The U.S. carried out airstrikes last night directly responding to an attack at the al-Asad Airbase in Iraq, killing several militants, two U.S. defense officials tell Fox News.

The attack from Iran-proxy forces on the base happened Monday, according to the officials.

A U.S. defense official tells Fox News that an AC-130 gunship carried out an airstrike on a vehicle in the proximity of the base, killing an estimated five to eight militants.

There have been dozens of attacks launched on American forces in the Middle East since Hamas launched its war against Israel on Oct. 7.

The military response is the 4th time the U.S. has carried out an airstrike since the attacks ramped up in October.

The other counterattacks happened on Oct. 26, Nov. 8 and Nov. 12, all in Syria.

State Department: Israeli settler sanctions 'under consideration'

The State Department said Monday that sanctions against Israeli settlers involved in attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank are "under consideration."

"We don’t like to announce sanctions that we’re going to make before we’ve implemented them," spokesperson Matthew Miller told reporters.

Miller also declined to say whether the US would prosecute any American settlers found to have committed criminal acts.

"I don’t want to preview any steps that we might take," he said. "I will reiterate that our first priority is for the Government of Israel to take action against those extremists who are committing violence against Palestinians. But we have options at our disposal as well that we will use if appropriate."

In a Washington Post op-ed published Saturday, President Biden wrote that the US would issue visa bans against settlers found to have taken part in attacks.

Since the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas on southern Israel, settlers have killed eight Palestinians, including one child, according to the United Nations. Four Israeli civilians have been killed in attacks by Palestinians.

Biden says Israel hostage releases are 'very close' to happening

President Biden said Tuesday that "we're now very close" to hostages being released from Hamas' captivity in Gaza.

"We can bring some of these hostages home very soon," Biden said at the White House. "But I don't want to get into the details of things because nothing is done until it's done. And we have more to say. We will. But things are looking good at the moment."

Biden made the remarks as Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is meeting with top officials to discuss the hostage situation in Gaza.

There are reports Tuesday that Israel and Hamas are close to reaching a deal brokered by Qatar, which also would include a cease-fire.
