The U.S. military retaliated over recent attacks on American bases by bombing two facilities in eastern Syria, a senior U.S. official tells Fox News.

Two Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stations in the Middle East were hit on Sunday night. One was an IRGC training facility, while the other was used by IRGC proxy forces.

Sunday night's airstrikes were the third set of retaliatory attacks against Iranian proxies on behalf of the U.S. since October 27.

American forces have been attacked in the Middle East dozens of times since mid-October, with terrorists firing drones and rockets towards bases.

The U.S. and Israel are unsure of how many hostages that Hamas terrorists took on Oct. 7 are "still alive," national security adviser Jake Sullivan said Sunday.

Sullivan made the comments during an appearance on ABC's "This Week." He said the U.S. remains focused on securing the release of the nine U.S. citizens and one U.S. green card-holder believed to be in Hamas custody. He said that while Israel is classifying all 239 missing individuals as hostages of Hamas, there is no way to be sure how many of them are "still alive."

"We do not know the precise number of hostages. We know the number of missing, and that's the number the Israelis have given, but we don't know how many of those are still alive," Sullivan told ABC. "As far as Americans are concerned, there are nine missing American citizens as well as a missing legal permanent resident--a green card holder."

Sullivan said he will be meeting with family members of the missing Americans later this week.

Hamas Terrorists Holding Orphan U.S. Toddler Among Hostages in Gaza

A three-year-old American orphan is among the hostages being held by the Palestinian Hamas terrorist group after their barbaric October 7 raid on Israel.

The toddler’s parents were slaughtered by the terror group during the massacre last month that saw 1,200 civilians killed and around 200 people taken hostage including at least nine U.S. nationals.

The child’s presence in Gaza amongst the hostages was revealed Sunday in a readout of a call between President Joe Biden and Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad al-Thani of Qatar released by the White House.

Israeli minister says Hamas has 'lost control of Gaza'

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant says Hamas has "lost control" of Gaza amid the Israeli military's assault on the terrorist organization.

Gallant made the statment in a Monday broadcast to Israeli television. Israel is in the 38th day of its war against Hamas, and its ground assault in Gaza has lasted for roughly two weeks. While Gallant says Hamas' control over the region has been removed, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said Israel will not stop until the terrorist organization is "destroyed."

“Hamas has lost control of Gaza. Terrorists are fleeing southward. Civilians are looting Hamas bases,” he said. “They don’t have faith in the government anymore."

"There is no power that Hamas has capable of stopping the IDF. The IDF is advancing to every point," he added.

Israel has yet to release images of the looting Gallant referenced, however, as it has done for many incidents since Hamas' Oct. 7 massacre.

Israel-Hamas war: State Department spox says Hamas shouldn't have refused fuel from Israel

U.S. State Department Spokesperson Matt Miller called out Hamas terrorists on Monday for reportedly refusing fuel from Israeli officials at al-Shifa Hospital.

The State Department spokesman made his remarks during a press briefing on Monday afternoon.

"If they need fuel, which they clearly do, they should have taken the offer from the government of Israel," Miller said. "But to the larger point, Hamas is sitting on fuel reserves in northern Gaza. Hamas is using fuel reserves to ventilate its tunnels."

Miller then accused Hamas of neglecting hospital patients in Gaza by not giving them their own fuel.

"If Hamas truly cared for the people in al-Shifa and in other hospitals in the north, it could take the fuel that it's using to protect its fighters and send it to the hospitals so the hospitals could protect patients," he added. "They are not doing that."

A 3-year-old American whose parents were murdered on Oct. 7 is among those still being held hostage by Hamas terrorists, President Biden has revealed.

Biden referred to the child -- who was not identified -- in a Sunday call to Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani to offer thanks for help releasing earlier hostages as well as "the urgent ongoing efforts to secure additional releases," the White House said.

The president "condemned unequivocally the holding of hostages by Hamas, including many young children, one of whom is a 3-year old American citizen toddler, whose parents were killed by Hamas on October 7th," the White House said of the call.

"The two leaders agreed that all hostages must be released without further delay," the statement added.

Israel supports US President Joe Biden’s inclusion of humanitarian aid for Gaza in the $106 billion national security package that he presented to Congress last month to fund Washington’s security support for Israel and Ukraine, a senior Israeli official tells The Times of Israel.

However, the official clarifies that this support from Jerusalem is conditioned on the aid meeting specific criteria, which Israel is raising with US lawmakers who are currently working to advance the aid package.

These include differentiating between short-term, emergency assistance, which must be fully coordinated with Israel, and funding for rehabilitating Gaza after the war. Israel is also asking for post-war funding to include aid that will help bolster Egypt’s border with Gaza to ensure that the enclave is not re-militarized in a “post-Hamas Gaza,” according to the senior Israeli official.

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Monday that Hamas had lost control in the Gaza Strip, as the Israel Defense Forces moved to fully capture Gaza City.

“There is no force of Hamas capable of stopping the IDF. The IDF is advancing at every location. The Hamas organization has lost control in Gaza: Terrorists are fleeing south, civilians are looting Hamas bases. They have no confidence in the government,” Gallant said, after holding an assessment on the fighting.

“Underneath the hospital, in the basement, we found a Hamas command and control center, suicide-bomb vests, grenades, AK-47 assault rifles, explosive devices, RPGs, and other weapons, computers, money, etc,” Spokesman Daniel Hagari said, in an English-language press conference.

The military also said it had killed a group of gunmen who had fired on troops from another Gaza City hospital, publishing footage of the incident. It announced that it had killed a number of Hamas commanders in airstrikes over the past day, and provided details on its efforts to eliminate field commanders and disrupt the terror group’s operations in the Gaza Strip over the past few weeks

Monday night saw a rocket barrage launched from Gaza at central Israel for the first time since Friday. Sirens also sound in Ashkelon and other areas of southern Israel. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

RPG cell in a hospital

Troops killed members of a terror cell that opened fire at Israeli forces from Al-Quds Hospital in Gaza City Monday. The cell at the hospital opened fire at troops of the 188th Armored Brigade with light arms and RPGs, while “embedded within a group of civilians at the entrance,” according to the IDF.

With air support, IDF troops returned fire at the Hamas operatives, killing 21 of them. No troops were hurt, but one tank was damaged by an RPG, the IDF added.

During the exchange of fire, the IDF said civilians were seen leaving the hospital, and other gunmen came out of adjacent buildings and hid among them.

After firing RPGs at troops, the IDF said the gunmen fled back into the hospital.

The military released footage of the battle that appeared to show RPG-wielding gunmen running into the hospital.

White House: If Iran Proxies Keep Attacking Troops, We’ll Continue ‘to Mitigate that Threat’

On Monday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” White House National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby responded to claims that the U.S. is failing to deter Iranian proxy groups by stating that if the attacks continue, “we’re going to have to continue to respond and respond aggressively and appropriately to mitigate that threat.”

Host Andrea Mitchell said, “[T]he U.S. has now conducted its third round of retaliatory strikes against Iranian-linked sites in Syria. This time, notably, it killed several Iranians. Deterrence doesn’t seem to be working.”

Kirby responded, “Well, again, these groups and the IRGC, the Revolutionary Guard Corps that works for the supreme leader that funds and supports these militia groups, they’ve got some choices to make. If they want to keep attacking our troops in Iraq and Syria and keep threatening our facilities and the lives of our folks in harm’s way, then we’re going to have to continue to respond and respond aggressively and appropriately to mitigate that threat. These targets were targets that went directly at the IRGC’s ability to continue to provide capabilities to these groups. We’re not looking for conflict. We don’t want to see any more attacks. But we’ve got to do what we’ve got to do to protect our troops and our facilities, and we’ll keep doing that.”
