The number of illegal immigrants crossing the United States at the southern border is higher than ever. Despite the record-breaking numbers, Biden’s press secretary said he has done more than anyone else to secure the country’s borders. Here’s the full story.
“The President Missed the Meeting Because He ‘Has a Lot on His Plate’”
President Biden missed a meeting with New York Governor Kathy Hochul to discuss the migrant crisis in New York. Although he couldn’t attend, Bident sent Department of Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas along with his chief of staff.
Biden said he has a “very good relationship” with the governor. The White House Press Secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, said the president missed the meeting because he “has a lot on his plate.”
Jean-Pierre defended the president’s absence from the meeting. She said the fact that Biden had “his top people” meeting with Hochul showed how important the meeting was to him.
Jean-Pierre was asked what she “would say to congressional Democrats who are upset that the White House has not done more to secure the border through executive action.”
