Trump has 23-point lead over DeSantis in first test of GOP caucus field: poll

Former President Donald Trump holds an overwhelming lead of more than 2-to-1 over his nearest rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, in the 2024 presidential race among likely Iowa Republican caucusgoers, according to a new poll.

Trump is the first choice of 42% of the likely caucusgoers out of 14 GOP candidates, while 19% picked DeSantis with about five months to Caucus Day, the first 2024 NBC News/Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll found.

They’re followed by Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, at 9%; former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley and former Vice President Mike Pence, both at 6%; former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 5%; and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy at 4%.

But the poll results also show DeSantis has a lane in Iowa, where his total “footprint” is 2 percentage points behind Trump: 61% to 63%, the Des Moines Register pointed out.

The footprint is measured by adding together those who say a candidate is their first choice, those who say the candidate is their second choice and those who are actively considering supporting the candidate.

DeSantis is not a Hillary Clinton

And he didn’t donate to her foundation or claim at one time she would make a fine president at least that I’m not aware of

Yeah, that may be speculated lead at this point, but ouside the hard core MAGATS, that lead is so soft that Viagra wouldn't help it.

Apparently, you still don't get the difference between presenting an AI generated creation as a genuine photo ----- and a meme photoshopped from an actual globally-recognizable photo.

I repeat:  It's important to understand the difference because it truly matters @jmyrlefuller   Here's a hint to help you discern the difference:  When you view a meme, you simultaneously know the original photo  ---- with AI the photo *is* the original, and a fake.

A photoshop of a globally-recognized movie/poster is a meme and perfectly okay ---- only an idiot would mistake it for an original.

Remember the hint:  Everyone simultaneously knew the original when viewing the meme ---- making the meme effective, memorable and damn funny. :laugh:  (Methinks this is what really upsets you with this one)

There were LOTS of these memes at the time, even a contest------that went on for days ----- (sorry, but it did and was LOL funny)

Remember when Trump about 8 years ago posted the fake picture of Jeb picking his nose... not one Trump fan seemed to care. Trump gripped about a Jeb Bush photo that Trump said was photoshopped, well it was somewhat, but not like Trump suggested (said Jeb had a "black hand")... It was just a photo carved out of of Jeb smiling and standing next to an older lady that shaded Jeb's left hand and made it look darker.

BTW... a lot of photos in ads show a fit trim Trump instead of someone pushing 280lbs or such. Some here on TBR have made light of DeSantis's height... a few of us have made fun of Trump having a hissy fit over his hand size...

Honestly I could for the most part care less what height/hand-size/weight or what a trophy wife's looks like. Just give me a good Bible God Fearing Real Conservative that looks like road kill and I will vote for them.

Yeah, that’s full of garbage.

Trump is about as religious as his pal Snoop Doggie Dog.

Never have I ever had the impression Trump gave a darn about church or religiosity.  Glad to have prayers, sure, but not doing it himself.

The worst for me was when he tried that 2- second photo op at the (apostate) historic Episcopalian church that had been burned slightly outside the WH.  He didn’t even make much an attempt to look like a serious photo op.
