You are considering DeSantis a RINO consdering your dumbass candidate brings up Freedom Cities and Baby Bonuses in pure dim fashion?

Your credibility meter has dropped way below zero, and no one is taking your silly shit serious anymore.

And spends like a drunken liberal to boot.

No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

I'll be voting in the General Election for the Republican candidate, that's the only certainty I have.  The worst Republican Candidate is better than the best Democrat.

Methinks the "who else are you going to vote for" days are over. That thinking is what brought us to this point in our history. We surrendered the power of our vote to the "lesser of two evils" fallacy. No more.

This election is about a return to peace, prosperity, freedom and strength. AND, it’s about uprooting a deep administrative state that has grown into a monster Totalitarian Uniparty.

If the Totalitarians among us are successful in stopping Trump from running, the Republic is done.

The only chance of rebuilding will be to crush the federal Republican Party in 2024 --- from top to bottom --- and clear the way for a true opposition party.

Why?  You've made up your mind to vote for DeSantis.  Good luck with that "RINO or BUST" strategy.  @GtHawk

Donald Trump is the epitome of the term 'RINO'.  There is nothing 'Republican' about his trade policies, government limitations, or fiscal policies.

What brought us to this point in our history was four years of a so-called 'Republican' who handed the keys to the Swamp and allowed them to run roughshod over the American people with their Covid bullshit and the largest increase in debt for any four year term in US history.  And your answer is four more years of that?  No thanks.

You're right @corbe  Trump was raised in Queens, NY at a time (based on stories I've heard retold) it was a flag waving, July 4th parading bastion of American pride, patriotism and belief in the American dream.

He has always been an unapologetic capitalist ---- a true fair trader ---- with a unique appreciation for and relationship with the working class.

Trump's been sounding the alarm about the tax structure, government regulations, unnecessary war, China's rise, Europe's abuse of US loyalty and generosity for the past 25 years.  Hell, we wouldn't be talking about what what illegal immigration is doing to this country had it not been for Trump  making it a top issue in 2015 and combatting it for four years from the Oval Office ---- often without an Army.

I could go on, but the 15 minute meeting reminder beckons.

Later.   :patriot:

If Trump came out today and gave any indication that he found religion on protectionist, economy harming, tariffs, and the out of control spending that happened on his watch, I would reconsider my vote

But I see nothing indicating the above being the case. In fact, every indication is he’ll be much worse than the first round.

As of right now, the Trump campaign is nothing more than a campaign for revenge and retribution for real and perceived wrongs

Although they won’t admit it, they want to be the ones wielding the power of an ever growing federal government.  And and ever growing, more powerful federal government is not gonna be any more benevolent if they ran it versus the left.

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

And maybe that's why we're constantly losing. Our open-mindedness has cost us.

2016 was the closest I've ever come to actually liking a Republican contender. I hated the dais in 2008 and 2012, where my preferred candidates were either out of contention by fall or never really in it... and none of the candidates who were still around after South Carolina were even remotely palatable. But I could live with Cruz.

The odd thing is, the Trump-or-no-one caucus seems to view the party that it's trying to represent of being the enemy. "DeSantis is backed by Jeb, Rove, the Deep State!" He'd be cheering if the Deep State endorsed HIM. But it seems we cannot put up a united front against Trump without Trump using it against us via guilt by association.

So what's the solution? Our country, our society, is dying, and we are facing enemies on both the left and the Trumpists. When the future is based on who gets the most votes and the vast majority of Americans are corrupt, it's hard not to feel bleak about our future.
Our future is NOT bleak brother.  Don't forget this is not our home.  Be focused on the prize!

As for the issue of ILLEGAL immigration, it was certainly a huge focus during W's administration. (At that time I was actively involved in trying to promote Legal immigration as opposed to ILLEGAL immigration and we'll leave it at that). The Secure Fence Act of 2006 was passed by both Houses of Congress; unfortunately it was never completely funded and it's been a battle ever since.

To say without Trump we wouldn't be talking about ILLEGAL immigration is absolutely false.  Sure, that is the issue that he ran on because he knew people were fed up with the lack of action after the Secure Fence Act was passed.  Trump had a super majority his first term yet he sat on his butt and did nothing about building the wall that he promised to build even after Cruz made that suggestion several times.  Trump waited till the very last minute to push for funding a wall just days before the new DEM majority Congress was to move in. Why the heck did he wait????  Sorry, this is one issue that I cannot give Trump a pass on.  This issue is what got him elected and he FAILED.  Sure, he replaced a lot of fence that had become dilapidated but the wall was never completed, otherwise, we wouldn't have millions crossing over.

Trump was better on the illegal immigration issue than Bush, Obama, and especially the current occupier. In fact, the current nursing home patient in chief is one of the worst.

But the idea we weren’t even talking about it until Donald Trump in 2015 is provably false. Remember when Ted Kennedy and John McCain tried to pass illegal immigration amnesty I think sometime in 2005 or 2006, late on a Friday night? When that leaked out not only did the republican base express outrage but the public at large. I would say that that was probably one of the issues that cost the Republicans the 2006 midterms.

I remember when Mitt Romney was vilified in 2012 for suggesting that anyone in this country illegally should be deported and forever blocked from re-entry.  His position was somewhat to the right of Donald Trump who in 2015 said they should be deported and then fast-tracked for re-entry.

Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX) removed the money from the Secure Fence Act and gave it to the Education Dept.
