Multiple people injured in active shooter incident in Midtown

May 03, 2023 at 12:55 pm EDT

ATLANTA — Atlanta police said multiple people have been injured in an active shooter situation on West Peachtree Street Wednesday afternoon.

Channel 2′s Michael Seiden was at the scene, where he saw what looked like hundreds of heavily-armed officers outside 1100 West Peachtree Street Northwest, which is a Northside Hospital facility.

Multiple agencies including Atlanta police, Atlanta fire, MARTA police, Georgia Tech police and the Georgia State Patrol have responded to the situation.

A senior member of the Channel 2 Action News team is currently in the area and saw several people being taken out of the building on stretchers to waiting ambulances.  .  .  .

Multiple people injured in active shooter situation on West Peachtree Street, Atlanta Police say

It was at a building on West Peachtree Street between 12th Street and 13th Street.

ATLANTA — Atlanta Police are investigating an active shooter situation on West Peachtree Street with multiple people injured, they tweeted.

APD said on Twitter: "Update as of 12:42pm - We are working an active shooter situation inside a building on West. Peachtree St, between 12th St and 13th St. We are aware of multiple people injured. No suspect is in custody."

An earlier tweet stated: "Please shelter in place, or stay out of the area."

The address given in that tweet was 1110 W. Peachtree St. NW, which is a Northside Hospital urgent care and family medicine facility.

At 12:46 p.m., APD tweeted: "Anyone in the area is asked to secure their building and shelter in place. Anyone not in the area is asked to stay away."

UPDATE 1:07 p.m.: APD have put out a "be on the lookout" bulletin for a suspect:

The employee handbook for Atlanta’s Northside Hospital, the site at which an attacker shot and killed one and wounded three on Wednesday, has a gun-free policy prohibiting “the possession of weapons.”

Active shooter suspect remains at large in Atlanta, police say

A suspected gunman is in custody after an active shooter situation inside a building that left at least one person dead and four others injured, according to the Atlanta Police Department.

The shooting occurred around noon inside a building on West Peachtree Street between 12th and 13th Streets, the Atlanta Police Department said.

Police said they are aware of "multiple people injured," and later updated that at least four people were rushed to Grady Hospital for treatment while a fifth was pronounced dead at the scene.
